I HAVE ACQUIRED A COPY OF EXPELLED: NO INTELLIGENCE ALLOWED!  ASK ME ANYTHING!!1!!!

Well, don't ask me yet actually.  I haven't had time to watch it yet and there is no way in hell i'll be able to watch it all in one sitting without gouging my eyes out.  I do plan on taking notes tough.
You cannot fathom the immensity of the fuck i do not give.

Why would you do that to yourself?

as an exercise in MF yourself, i suggest that you use this thread to argue in favor of ID, using your video as your resource to fend off debate from the rest of us.

BADGE OF HONOR

I heard an ad for that on the radio yesterday.  Didn't Ben Stein turn into a wingnut of some sort?
The Jerk On Bike rolled his eyes and tossed the waffle back over his shoulder--before it struck the ground, a stout, disconcertingly monkey-like dog sprang into the air and snatched it, and began to masticate it--literally--for the sound it made was like a homonculus squatting on the floor muttering "masticate masticate masticate".

Do you have something I can read, instead?

I'm not sure anyone is that good of a debater.  From the reviews I've read there is no There There.  The movie basically has three arguments:

1) Ooh, everything is complicated.
2) ZOMG, CONSPIRACY!!!  :tinfoilhat:
3) LOL, HITLER!

They never do get around to showing any evidence for ID.

Really?
huh.  from debates i've had with ID proponents, they have a huge treasure chest of misused scientistic frubble that they pull things from.  It suprises me that they wouldn't pull out any of this stuff to legitimize themselves to the unknowledgable masses that will watch this movie....
hm.... you don't think is a 'poison the well' attack on ID, actually, do you?

Actually, that's about all IDiots have to offer.  It's their own fault for using "irreducible complexity."  I think Expelled leaves some of those claims for people like Hovind.

Ok, so I finally decided to watch this festering piece of crap.  Let's see how much I can take at once...

And 30 seconds in and we already have our first footage of Nazis.  Way to pull Godwin's Law out first thing.  Classy.

Yay!  Dawkins, Dennett, and PZ Myers! Maybe they will rescue this movie.  Or they will be edited to look like bafoons.  Guess which one I'm placing my money on...

And Ben Stein is being set up as our Hero already.  He is the only man on this planet who will stand up to Big Science!!!  He is standing up for "Academic Freedom"!  He is Jesus and George Washington rolled into one!!!!

ZOMG!!!  Big Science is totally oppressing people who want to use "God did it" in their research!!!

And the first big lie:  Richard Sternberg was not "terrorized" nor was "his life nearly ruined".  He is a talentless hack who managed to slip a pro-intelligent design paper into a peer reviewed biology journal.  And he was never a paid employee for the Smithsonian. He wasn't exiled, he turned his resignation in before the paper was even published!!!  God, these people are retards.

I busted out laughing when they called Stephen C. Meyer "one of the leading minds of the Intelligent Design movement".  That seems more like an insult than a compliment.  :lulz:

Yay! Michael Shermer!  There's a real Hero! More of him, less of Mr. Monotone.

And the next big lie:  Caroline Crocker wasn't fired for "mentioning the words intelligent design" in the classroom. She didn't have her contract renewed after students complained about her teaching creationist bullshit. The blacklisting claim is hilarious considering she was caught teaching ever more Creationist bullshit at a community college by the Washington Post

Next big lie: Michael Egnor.  His basic complaint is that people called him bad names for saying that doctors don't have to know anything about evolution. He didn't lose his job.  No one locked him up for saying "Darwinism" is wrong.  They called him mean things on the internet.  What a pussy.

Another big lie: Robert Marks had his "research" (and I use that term very loosely) website shut down by Baylor University.  They temporarily shut it down because it was on their server and they didn't want people to think that they approved of ID. They had already been burned by Dembski and didn't want it to happen again.

At this I would like to point how horrible the production values are.  The interviews are always filmed in low light and at very bad angles. There are pointless clips (Nazis, people getting beat up, a guillotine, Planet of the Apes, etc.) thrown in at random.  Very distracting. And having Ben Stein as your narrator is the single stupidest thing I have ever heard of. It's like they aren't even trying...

Yet another big lie: Guillermo Gonzalez wasn't denied tenure because of Intelligent Design.  He was denied tenure because he wasn't doing his job as a professor.  He stopped publishing research. He stopped attracting grants. And he sucked as a graduate student adviser.

"You use an Intelligent Design perspective to get the research done but you're not allowed to talk about it in public."  :lulz: LOL, WUT???  HOW do you use an ID perspective to do research?  Why aren't they talking about that in this movie?  There hasn't been a single shred of evidence in favor of Intelligent Design presented so far.  The persecuted scientists they are interviewing haven't even mentioned any of the research they are doing with Intelligent Design.  I wonder why...

Ok, only 16 minutes in and it is already pissing me off.  I'll come back to finish it on another day.
You cannot fathom the immensity of the fuck i do not give.

This is exactly why I started this thread.  I need the constant peer pressure to force me to finish the movie.  I promise to watch another segment tonight after work.
