Everything on the list of symptoms I've had for the past six months.

Obviously I am the cause of swine flu, and spread it to mexicans via teleportation and magic pixie dust.

They actually found patient 0.  He's a little 5 year old in Mexico, and he's fine now.

Well, possibly patient 0... as far as I can tell, that relies on the infection vector being flies from pig barns, but no one has verified that you can catch the flu that way. So IF you can catch swine flu from flies, then there's a reasonable suspicion that the four year old is patient 0... IF you can't catch it from the flies, then there has to be someone else that spread it to the boy.

There's also some concern that it came from an American/Mexican corporation which may not have been properly disposing of their waste. Imagine that, an irresponsible company, that's already been fined by the EPA Might be doing the nasty in Mexico. I'm sure we're all shocked.

Isn't this the same thing as the EEE mosquito?

It kills the very old, the very young, and the very sick (already).

If you're more or less healthy, you'll catch a cold.  OOOOOH!

Depends on your immune system and treatment. At best you get atypical cold symptoms (the Flu) at worst it turns into pneumonia and you die. Your immune system and general health determine where you fall on that scale.

Unless  you happen to be unlucky, in theory any flu can kill you if your immune system doesn't get everything just right, every time. Sort of like how the occasional virus can slip past a good AV solution on your computer.

From what I've read about Mexico, it's killing a lot of 'young adults' because their relatively healthy immune systems overreact and they drown in their own lungs as cytokines gather there, or something.

Shit hit the fan in my husband's clinic today.  They had a suspected case, so he went on a "code red" kind of thing (my words not his) and shut down operations that weren't triage.  People heard that there was more flu vax in the works, so they flooded his office.  And of course, he took today off.  :|  So his phone's been ringing off the hook.  But he called the guys with the flu vax and confirmed they have an order coming to the clinic (Tamaflu), and he told all his office people to get masks on the front desk personnel, cut down operations that weren't triage related (no well baby exams, isolate the infants well, and no shots).

He picked a lousy day to go watch movies with his wife, apparently.

Meanwhile, his staff is in a tizzy, they're all sniping at each other, but they're not shorthanded--just missing his calm head in the storm around them.  They got an influx of walk-ins and saw 40 of them just this morning.  There's only about 3 docs and one nurse practitioner on staff right now.  YIIIIKES.

There may be a probable case in RI now. Apparently a high school boy...I call bullshit.

i think its weird that most cases are in schools.

either way, call me paranoid, my kid is staying home for the week-

maph, yuo = paranoid

Though, I urged my husband NOT to go into work today.  :lulz:  His reply as that staying home one or two days won't keep the germs at bay--and he's right, because if this thing takes hold like anyone with 2 cents to rub together is predicting, the fight, such as it is, will be on for weeks, not a couple of days.

So, strap on the hipboots, folks...this is going to be a long haul out of media paranoia blitzes and public panic.  All I can think of is "WASH YER DAMNED HANDS!"

Yes, it did...and no one ever died from it, I think...

And now there's 3 confirmed cases in my husband's clinic.  ETA:  the Head Start preschool nextdoor shut down because the first case to come to his clinic came from there.

Shitballs.

Most of the dead have been otherwise healthy young adults, at least in the initial reports.
