im hearing theres about 20 new laws being worked on right now by the senate - but i only know about 2 im sure, one is so anyone can carry a small amount of drugs without problems (with the war on drugs here, its so they make bigger punishments to sellers and less to mere consumers)

Hasn't Mexico been trying to pass that for quite a while now? I definately remember that coming up well over a year ago but I don't see why they'd be so deperate to pass it that they'd need to exagerate a flu epidemic.

It may be food borne, last I heard various health orgs were testing for that.

I'd call that extremely unlikely though.  Pattern doesn't match for food borne.

One of my coworkers has been diagnosed with influenza, but they don't know what kind. They are, of course, doing tests. Keep your fingers crossed, she might be the lucky 1st case of Pig Flu in Wyoming!

And if so, I'll be glad that I have not made out with her by the water cooler.

No time to put together a cohesive set of thoughts, so for the moment some notes:

    * Too well organised response for it to be an unexpected and natural event, UK government would not be leafleting every home if it were known to be equivelent to natural influenza.
    * Happening on the heels of the G20 world summit, coincidence?
    * New world order has been previously announced by world leaders, and on the back of the economic crisis it is needed for the world to survive (a intentional cull).
    * Either bird flu was a carefully planned precursor to make this look like a genetic shift, or Bird flu was a failed attempt at a pandemic.
    * The fact that it is a blend of Human, Bird, and Pig flu's suggests it is manufactured to be a very different virus, to which there is no immune response.
    * Bush had 9/11, Obama will have the 05/09 apocolypse.
    * Synical ploy by manufacturers of Tamiflu and Relenza to buck the economic trend, and make a mountain of cash.
    * Biological attack by a terrorist organisation/state/country.
    * Mistakenly released virus from a lab, like 28 Days' Rage.
    * Prepare a larder, obtain essential fuel and fire lighting, get cash, first aid supplies.
    * This could be an attack by the rich west on the poorer countries of the world who are less well able to deal with a pandemic, so reducing the population to the benefit of the well prepared west.

WhatwhatWHAT?!

Okay, so teh government is too stupid to be prepared to respond to an unexpected disease, BUT they're also super-smart conspiratorial bastards who can engineer a pandemic for whatever purpose?

I'd go to Mexico right now, if their bed-wetting government hadn't shut everything down.

I remember on, like, the third day after it became a big news story, they were showing how empty the streets and restaurants in Mexico City were.  My immediate thought was "I could really work the hotels down to a more agreeable price in a situation like this."  As it is though, its not worth going, since anything fun is currently closed.
