A man gains superpowers after a bizarre accident and decides to fight crime, but is quickly and constantly imposed upon to instead use these powers for mundane purposes by opportunistic and passive-aggressive friends and family members

I can see this one.  I'd watch.

You could expand it to a whole superhero team, all of whom have impressive superpowers limited to mundane uses.

Super Move-My-Couch Man, who has the strength of five dudes and the speed of a rental truck. The Install Wizard, who can communicate with all electronics telepathically, so long as they support USB and are running Windows XP. The Incredible Hulkmania, who can simulate any move from the past or future of professional wrestling so long as the person they are simulating it on is under the age of twelve. Scarlet Earring, a psychic with the power to drop into a trance and repeat family gossip verbatim based on the aura of nearby objects, but cannot vouch for the validity of it because she wasn't there. Eggman, who can cook large meals instantly, so long as they involve fried eggs, instant ramen, or nachos.

In a bizarre reversal of Dawn of the Dead, In the near future rampant overpopulation forces people to descend into the firey underworld to seek housing and employment; causing resentment among the locals. When there's no more room on Earth, we'll have to live in Hell.

It is an unfortunate fact that every man who seeks to disseminate knowledge must contend not only against ignorance itself, but against false instruction as well. I like it.  Cant help myself from embellishing, or; just being derivative in the original stories thread because I broke my novelty ruler, the scales of purity, repetition armor, and trail blazing sandals...  Where was I... Ah:  upon reaching hell, Satan conducts entrence interviews due to capacity issues.  Most try to ingratiate themselves, embellishing the tails of their arrival with sordid detail.  But Satan sees right through their pathetic attempts, stringing them along while discretely making sure that they have a room ready upstairs upon finishing their story.  Satan is very apologetic, insisting that while he recognizes himself in them (mostly) he regrets to inform them that accommodations have been made elsewhere, in a comparable if not superior establishment.

I had this idea for a movie. It's basically a remake of The Passion of the Christ and other movies of that nature, but with a twist. The twist is that the person playing Jesus is wearing a gimp-suit throughout.

The benefits of growing spherical pot in zero gravity lead to a long sequence of unusual economic consequences. Eventually, libertarian tax-dodging space-hippies secede from earth.

Presented to readers as if it really happened: A little boy is knocked out and severely injured in a playground fight gone horribly awry. When he wakes up in the hospital after several hours of life saving surgery he begins talking about things that he couldn't possibly know and recounts how he was taken by a valkyrie to Valhalla, where he met Odin and Thor, until the doctors revived him.

I've actually drawn a couple of short one-page comics based on approximately this concept*. In one of them a batsignal-esque light is used to project a grocery list on the sky.

*(The comic, however, has the rather large difference that the protagonist is a cartoon mouse, and instead of being bossed around by family members he's bossed around by a sadistic human-shaped demiurge who he has an ambiguous relationship to but who seems to control his fate)

This works better as an idea for a heavy-metal song than for a movie or novel, but I'd like to explore the idea that when you die you face the eternal judgement of the Marquis de Sade and Loepold von Sacher-Masoch.

A divinatory card system is created that is unreasonably effective. However, it turns out that this is because the cards cause the foretold future to occur (rewriting history if necessary), not because the cards predict what the future would have been  -- and this distinction occasionally becomes more than merely abstract, as a (randomly chosen) divination of the near future sometimes requires erasing the act of divination itself. More mundanely, events surrounding people using these decks begin to occur at a rate more closely approximating their probability of being predicted by the deck itself, rather than their natural probability (making fortune tellers magnets for very strange events). Eventually, an ancient race of aliens come to earth in order to investigate the sudden increase in entropy being produced. Unfortunately for them, people have begun using these cards to play a poker-like game -- never realizing that every fair shuffle of the deck is scrambling important parts of the fate of the universe itself.
