If something were unfortunately cause this site (which is being used by the Iranian security services to try and identify protesters) to go down, say, forever, I do not think too many people would cry over it.

Just a little link to pass along to anyone who doesn't mind flouting a few transnational laws for the greater good.

Looks pretty DoS'd to me.

What a loss it is to the world of repressive, Third World policing.  It shall be missed

It's a shame, such a terrible shame.

Protip: D/DoS attacks are not permanent and only affect a site for as long as they are sending packets.

Dalek

The site is back on. We need hax. We need good hacks  Anyway, I am ready to help DDOSing. We just need organisation to

For a DDoSing to be effective, it needs to be sustained over however long you want it to be effective.

You can't really permanently take down a site unless you:
Destroy wherever it's stored and all of the backups, even then they can rebuild it via Google Cache or Wayback Machine or whatever.
or
You take control of the DNS name for yourself and point it towards another IP with different content (unless you do this legitimately it probably won't be permanent and you may get in legal trouble).

You could also deface the site, but they're free to change it back. Your best bet might be subtle changes and hoping they don't check the logs.

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert on the subject of hacking and am not a hacker. I am not asserting that anyone should break any local laws. Anything you do and get in trouble for is all on you.

Triple Zero

this relatively new type of HTTP DOS doesnt require much bandwidth: http://ha.ckers.org/blog/20090617/slowloris-http-dos/

but anyone with the guts, knowhow and anonymity-skills to even approach this would probably already know this.

also this is hypothetical and i'm not a hacker either and you were reading this for educational purposes and really I just want all sites on the internet to stay online and so we can live in peace harmony and DemocracyTM with everybody.
