Glick is very, very close to Netanyahu.  And if Israel is seriously considering a strike, they'll want American approval, for Iraqi airspace use.  Which means lobbying.  And the Christian Right and Neocons will join in any such event to influence political opinion, for their own agendas (apocalypse and machtpolitik, respectively).

Rumour I've heard is that this fall is going to be the opening moves in such a campaign.  Just thought you'd like to know.

Is THIS the REALLY REAL reason George Will wants us out of Afghanistan?

I thought Will was a paleocon?  Or at least very close to them.  Buchanan et al dislike machtpolitik abroad, because it distracts from fighting the culture war at home (in this paleocons are honest, but stupid.  War diverts resources away from progress at home, fires up nationalism and creates security theatre which then can be channelled towards such goals.  Neocons are indirect, but clever).

Anyway, US military wont play a role, except to let a small squadron of bombers over.  Israel is looking to ask permission to do the dirty, unless someone else (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, both of which are less likely than America to give their blessing) gives them the airspace they want to launch an attack.

Will is someone who will go along with whatever Israel wants, because they are the Chosen Peopletm.  So, he's all in favor of throwing in the US hat in whatever ring Israel chooses...right, wrong or indifferent.

So his recent article stating that Afghanistan was soooo 2002 and to pull out before we spooge any further came as quite a shock to the neocon world last week.  He's also got a hard-on for Iran as well.  I'm sure he'll applaud Israel's strategy while pushing for a withdrawal from Afghanistan in his next editorial, if he emotes on the subject at all.
