Black magic happens.  I wonder how Verthaine's doing.  Haven't seen him since he got married to the white side.  Still can't believe I called him a nig.   :horrormirth:

Nevermind.  That was years ago.  I don't know why I'm dragging that shit up now.  Remember Verthaine?  Me neither.
So long, and thanks for all the shit.

I uh have alluded to those events elsewhere.  Where they happened.  (eb&g)  Yeah.

So this shit in the OP, fucked up 6 ways to Sunday, but knowing how it is over there as I do (I've argued my own KIN to the ground about the difference between blacks and whites)...yeah...it's near-impossible to fight some of that prejudice.  I won't even get into the sort of shit I went through marrying an Afghan in my own family.  That was...painful, to say the least.

Sleeping dogs, Ben.  Let them lie.  It was a shitty event.  Nuff said.

Yeah, I remember Verthaine.

Shit

I admired Verthaine, but something kinda wicked, gross, and cowardly came through me that time I threw up a racial slur at him in his 'getting married to a white woman and fuck anyone who calls me a nigger' thread.  Don't know what possessed me.  That was last time I've ever seen him on the nets, even though I searched a few times out of curiosity.  I left this place for a long time after that too.  I hate getting on peoples' nerves who don't deserve it.  I am a nerd sometimes.

Welp, probably about time for another sabbatical for me.   Same time next year.  Golden state coast.  I've known Discordia for about ten years now, and sometimes the joke wears thin.  I hate discord.  Farewell.
So long, and thanks for all the shit.

:kingmeh:>"What, this isn't racist!  It's just a statement that the nobel peace prize is as easily procured as a cracker jack prize!  Just because it's a racoon, and that was used as an epithet for black people for decades, doesn't mean that it's "racist"..."

Oh wait none of that made any sense whatsoever.

I'd be careful, though.  Something tells me their admins may not be as conscientious as we are about PI.

QuoteCAIR is a non-profit organization of American citizens who are Muslim and their "mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding."  They stand accused of plotting to influence members of Congress and trying to help interns obtain positions in Congress in order to advance their political agenda.  That's consistent with what virtually every political advocacy group in the nation does; it's normally called activism and democracy.  But because, in this case, it's a group of Muslims who are doing this, these House Republicans are depicting it as some sort of nefarious espionage plot against the U.S. that demands a criminal investigation.

I know, Islam isn't a race.  But the vast majority of its practitioners are non-white, and I suspect that is more than a factor in this scapegoating.

It reminds me more of the red scare stuff in the 50s, where clearly anybody with the wrong ideology was a spy for the enemy.
