And like any other tool, it's on YOU whether or not you choose to use it in a manner that is detrimental to whatever it is you're trying to do with your life. Alcohol in and of itself is neither inherently good nor inherently bad.

I lived with a roommate for most of the last 2 years who preferred his beer at room temperature, so anytime I was too broke to have my own I'd have to drink his room temperature budweiser. Admittedly, in eastern Maine "room temperature" was usually around 50 degrees but still, my tolerance for warm shitty beer is greater than that of ordinary men.
