Uhhhhh

what part of the bible does he think advocates a free-market economy?

I actually think a Biblical economy is exactly what some of these tards want.

I mean, think about it.  No welfare system except in the hands of charities and religious groups, with vast concentrations of wealth among a relatively small ruling class.  Jesus didn't have to deal with no "regulations" to become a licenced and approved healer.  Only some kind of Marxist atheist would suggest you have to go to medical school to become a doctor.

Err

Oh, I'm well aware of this particular intersection in stupidity and ahistorical "thinking".  The Christian Dominionists, whom Gary North belongs to, actually advocate what they call "Biblical libertarianism" which does not mean free love and dope for all, but a fully deregulated market and adulterers getting stoned to death.

So, kinda like Saudi Arabia, only without the need to find gainful employment for the 600+ layabouts who make up the House of Saud.  And, one presumes, less sand.

Really? I though that Jesus guy was pretty clear on the NO STONING thing. Maybe he's rationalized that a True Christian is technically "without sin" if they have prayed for forgiveness, or something.

Seems like these guys think of Jesus much as the Muslims do... as a minor prophet whose teachings should not get in the way of Old Testament teachings. Makes me wonder if he believes in the 50 shekel + forced marriage penalty for rape as well.
Formerly something else...

Here's a bit more on it:

QuoteEpitomizing the Reconstructionist idea of Biblical "warfare" is the centrality of capital punishment under Biblical Law. Doctrinal leaders (notably Rushdoony, North, and Bahnsen) call for the death penalty for a wide range of crimes in addition to such contemporary capital crimes as rape, kidnapping, and murder. Death is also the punishment for apostasy (abandonment of the faith), heresy, blasphemy, witchcraft, astrology, adultery, "sodomy or homosexuality," incest, striking a parent, incorrigible juvenile delinquency, and, in the case of women, "unchastity before marriage."

According to Gary North, women who have abortions should be publicly executed, "along with those who advised them to abort their children." Rushdoony concludes: "God's government prevails, and His alternatives are clear-cut: either men and nations obey His laws, or God invokes the death penalty against them." Reconstructionists insist that "the death penalty is the maximum, not necessarily the mandatory penalty." However, such judgments may depend less on Biblical Principles than on which faction gains power in the theocratic republic. The potential for bloodthirsty episodes on the order of the Salem witchcraft trials or the Spanish Inquisition is inadvertently revealed by Reconstructionist theologian Rev. Ray Sutton, who claims that the Reconstructed Biblical theocracies would be "happy" places, to which people would flock because "capital punishment is one of the best evangelistic tools of a society."

The Biblically approved methods of execution include burning (at the stake for example), stoning, hanging, and "the sword." Gary North, the self-described economist of Reconstructionism, prefers stoning because, among other things, stones are cheap, plentiful, and convenient. Punishments for non-capital crimes generally involve whipping, restitution in the form of indentured servitude, or slavery. Prisons would likely be only temporary holding tanks, prior to imposition of the actual sentence.

People who sympathize with Reconstructionism often flee the label because of the severe and unpopular nature of such views. Even those who feel it appropriate that they would be the governors of God's theocracy often waffle on the particulars, like capital punishment for sinners and nonbelievers. Unflinching advocates, however, insist upon consistency. Rev. Greg Bahnsen, in his book By This Standard, writes: "We. . .endorse the justice of God's penal code, if the Bible is to be the foundation of our Christian political ethic."

The "ReChristianity" guy in Transmetropolitan was based on Rushdoony.  North is his son in law & protege, IIRC, and twice as mental.

But right now, I'm laughing too hard at Sarah Palin's "If I were in charge, Those People would know that waterboarding is how we baptize them".

Yes, I have.  My initial impression was "she's on drugs", but after a little analysis, it became "she's just stupid".

Oh, Mike Huckabee

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/04/13/mike-huckabee-tells-koch-backed-group-more-freedom-in-north-korea-than-the-u-s/

QuoteFox News host Mike Huckabee on Saturday suggested to a group of conservatives that there was "more freedom in North Korea" than the United States had under President Barack Obama.

Speaking at the New Hampshire Freedom Summit, Huckabee opined that "threats and affronts to our freedom today are so incredibly frightening."

"Freedom of speech in this country, that for which the men grabbed their muskets off the mantel, did never mean that we're to have fewer voices, but more voices," the former Arkansas governor said at the event, which was sponsored by Koch brothers-backed Americans For Prosperity and Citizens United.

"My gosh, I'm beginning to think that there's more freedom in North Korea sometimes than there is in the United States," he continued. "When I go to the airport, I have to get in the surrender position while people put hands all over me. And I have to provide photo ID in a couple of different forms, and prove that I really am not going to terrorize the airplane."

Wonkette has suggested a fundraiser to send Mike Huckabee to North Korea, so he can experience their Freedom first-hand.

LMNO

That would be the first time I've given money to a conservative politician, but I'd do it.

Barely worth mentioning beyond some of the tweaked versions. It's mainly just a personal distaste for Coulter here.
