Amid recent reports that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is having difficulty speaking English after spending five years in Taliban captivity, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin doubled down on her criticism of the newly freed prisoner of war's anti-Americanism.

"Sympathizers now tell the media Bergdahl can't be held to account anytime soon because he can't be interviewed ... claiming he's forgotten how to speak English. Really?" Palin asked in a Facebook post Wednesday. "Then # Call 1-800-RosettaStone."

"Does anyone remember abused POWs like John McCain, Tom Moe, James Stockdale, Tom Kirk, and other American troops forgetting the English language during their years and years of brutal, inhumane captivity?" the former Republican vice presidential candidate continued. "Seems these war heroes returned to their beloved country not speaking Vietnamese, but speaking KickAss against those who would destroy the red, white, and blue."

It's almost impressive that this clown has been paid for her ghastly opinions consistently for several years now. Expecting more nonsense shortly when actual POW's object to this idiocy. Then more when there's objections to the objection.

Likely as not, this kid will wish he still was a POW at some point. The family is already getting death threats and it's got bad ending written all over this.

It is amazing how everyone is purposefully missing the point about Bergdahl and somehow mixing up his story with the plot of Homeland.

Bergdahl, intelligent loner.  Spending his time learning the local languages, not socialising with his fellow soldiers.  Has a father fluent in Pashto, one of the harder languages in the world to learn, despite his father living in Idaho.  Anyone thinking "military intelligence"?

Haqqani Network.  Local affiliates of the Taliban.  Not insurgents as such, clan-based organised crime group who overlap into insurgency and Islamic militantism.  Strong links with the ISI, involved in the heroin trade on both sides of the Durand Line.  ISI uses relationship with Haqqani to pressure the Pakistani Taliban into accepting peace talks, scaling down their violence.

Haqqani Network was the orginal foreign fighter group in Afghanistan.  Bin Laden and others cut their teeth in Afghanistan as part of the Haqqani Network, who recieved funding from the usual Gulf state suspects.  Allegedly recipients of US intelligence funds and training during the Soviet Occupation.

Detainees swapped for Bergdahl are on their way to Qatar.  Syrian rebels are also training in Qatar.  Detainees have links to Haqqani, but not especially strong ones - could also be considered Taliban or Al-Qaeda.  At least three of them have a pronounced hatred of Shiites and history of war crimes against Shiite Muslims.

Who says the detainees will ever arrive in Afghanistan?  Why would the Haqqani Network be willing to trade an American soldier/spy without a prisoner swap - they've lost all their leverage now.  Isn't it more likely the Haqqani's got some backroom deal via Pakistan, maybe a truce in regards to missile strikes against the network and some money, in return for Bergdahl's release?  Bergdahl's release thus allows the release of six terrorists, who are now in a country promoting terrorism in Syria.

News Corp is threatening to sue Mail Online for breach of copyright in Australia.

News Corp Australia's lawyers wrote to Mail Online publisher Martin Clarke on Friday listing 10 instances were it alleges Mail Online has copied articles from News Corp titles.

Earlier this year, News UK chief executive Mike Darcey said Mail Online "shouldn't be confused with a business based on professional journalism".

He said: "It is largely a redistributor, rather than a generator, copying and re-writing content from social media sites, and from other traditional news outlets, including The Sun."

Neither, indeed, should anything related to Murdoch. The guy must have had the biggest shit eating grin in the world to come out with that one.

Wall Street Journal Editor Paul Gigot argued on Sunday that the minimum wage should be kept low because it would teach workers that they did not want to work low-wage jobs.

During a panel discussion on ABC's This Week, Gigot predicted that a decision in Seattle to hike the minimum wage to $15 an hour would eventually backfire.

"I think what [Mayor Ed Murray] is going to find out is he's pricing a bunch of people out of the labor market," Gigot opined. "Particularly the young, the least skilled, teenagers, people who want to go in and gen in on that basic, bottom rung of the economic latter and move up."


"Look, I worked for the minimum wage," he explained. "Two bucks an hour back in the 1970s. I had jobs that — what did I learn? I learned to show up on time, I learned certain skills, and I learned I didn't want to make the rest of my life so I better get an education."

According to the Dept. of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 1974 minimum wage of $2 an hour would be worth $9.62 in 2014 when adjusted for inflation.

The minimum wage level has not been high enough to life full-time workers above the poverty level since 1968.

Shot in the dark, I'm guessing the current minimum wage figure is not $10.

But anyway, People need to have bad paying jobs to teach them that bad paying jobs suck, apparently.

I think I could save a lot of time and effort here by letting him know that this is blindingly fucking obvious. But once again, rather than focus on improving people's lives it's better to keep them in a shit situation because reasons.
