Teabaggers more popular than Republicans, Dems

QuoteJust how angry is the public with the country's two leading political parties? Angry enough that the conservative, libertarian-leaning Tea Party movement is more popular than either the Democratic or the Republican parties, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The Republican Party maintains its net-negative favorable/unfavorable rating in the poll, with 28 percent viewing it positively and 43 percent seeing it in a negative light.

For the first time in more than two years, the Democratic Party also now holds a net-negative fav/unfav, at 35-45 percent.

By comparison, the NBC/WSJ poll shows the Tea Party movement with a net-positive 41-23 percent score.

Poll sounds suspect, but that's not the point.  The point is that some of the Teabaggers have got some fairly serious politicians and funding (Freedomworks etc) behind them.  And so far, they've monopolized populist opinion far better than the Democrats have (interesting, the Brookings Institute has a paper out explaining how Obama's strategy was to continue Bush economic policies while using tougher and more populist rhetoric - go figure), even if they're doing it against cultural opponents instead of economic ones.

The Dems, of course, don't understand the danger, because the Dems like to believe that they're 17-dimensional Zen chess masters who can defeat their enemy without moving a muscle (which is true, aside from the winning part).  They're so intellectual, you see, that they're not going to get beaten by a bunch of yokels with some angry slogans and incoherent rage (hey, that sounds familiar....).

Which is, of course, patently false.  And hey, aren't the Teabaggers courting many of the elements so in favour of the Warlord's rule?  Bachmann, Palin, Malkin (all women too, interestingly.  I don't think its relevant, per se, just noting that the major faces of the movement seem to be of the female persuasion, which is an oddity in politics) have left the GOP holding the bag and engaging in circular firing squads, while they reconstitute the Movement in new packaging.

Of course, this may all be a Constitution Party gambit (gather the nutters under one roof, allow the GOP to appear "respectable", nutter grouping "self-destructs" before a major election and their supporters return en masse to the GOP - like they did with the Warlord's first "election").  But if so, it has worked in the past, and can work again.

The Dems really are fuckups of the first order.

I think the women leader thing is a legitimacy gambit, the idea being that no matter how fucked up your policies are, because your leaders are women you must be seen as open minded and tolerant.

It's an oooold trick.  The Mormons did the same thing, granting women's suffrage as a way to cover up their polygamy practices.  Congress responded by covering up their hatred of women voters by banning polygamy.

The Dems can't even rein in douches like Lieberman.  Though it was kinda cute how Al Franken wouldn't give Lieberman extended time on his b.s. soliloquy yesterday.  But come on, is that all the Dems have in their arsenal?

Fucking weak ass pussified assholes.

Hanging on to a glimmer of hope, it would seem that because there is no Teabagger party yet, and have no platform and no candidates, there's a possibility that a lot of people are saying they don't like either the Dems or the Reps; but if the question was, "would you vote for a Beck/Palin ticket?" the number might drop sharply.

AFK

You know the cable news stations are amping this up because they really, really want Palin in the race in one form or another.  It will be a ratings goldmine for them.

Al Franken is hilarious.  I mean, he sucked as a comedian, but he's comedy gold as a senator.

I fucking can't believe we are about to have a political party named after faceballs.

I can't decide if this is the best thing ever or a good reason to jump off a bridge.

Best thing... because you can gauge who you're talking to by whether or not they involuntarily giggle every time they say the word "teabaggers".

I just did some Googling and learned that teabaggers HATE the term "Teabagger" and is claiming that it's a left-wing pejorative.  :lulz:
But they made it up for themselves! Awww, looks like someone's wittle pride is bruised.

His sort of "yeah, well, sorry" irony in his voice that told Lieberman he wasn't REALLY sorry was great.  But I expected MORE!  Fireworks and rage--where is it?

Democrats is letting us all down!  (so will be voted out, again, next term, goddamnthem)

Really?  I thought I read somewhere that it was the preferred term over "Teapartier".  Maybe I got that mixed up.

Doesn't matter,  I'll always call them teabaggers, and then attempt to put my balls in their mouth.
