Lost fans have expressed their outrage at the three-hour premiere of the final season clashing with Barack Obama's State of the Union address.

Both will hit US TV screens on February 2, prompting fans across the pond to bombard social networking sites with their dismay at the news.

Twitter comments by fans of the show, starring Matthew Fox, have included "Leave my LOST alone, Skippy!" and "Come onnnn, Obama..pick another day".

The Facebook group Americans Against The State Of The Union On The Same Night As LOST says: "We would rather watch the premiere of LOST than the State of the Union address. President Obama should change the date and/or time of the State of the Union, not LOST.

"He already bumped A Charlie Brown Christmas. When will it end?"

The White House isn't saying when Obama will speak. An ABC spokesman wouldn't say whether the network would consider moving the premiere.

Clearly this is the final nail in the coffin of the Obama presidency.

The fact that he is particularly charming, an excellent orator, and a paragon of the current cultural zeitgeist just makes him that much more effective at being a slimeball.
