That line from the father's song in Mary Poppins, where he's going on about how nothing can go wrong, in Britain in 1910.  That's about the point I realized the boy was gonna die in a trench.

That kind of creeps me out the same way that Chinese housing developments creep me out.

I dedicated "Isn't It Grand Boys To Be Bloody Well Dead" to Pat's dad. A little macabre, perhaps, but the wake is later today (Sunday), and the funeral is tomorrow (Monday).

The funny thing is, Johnny used to talk about the evils of a Sunday wake. Go figure.

This must mean that I'll die on a Wednesday (owing to me saying that I'm an atheist on Wednesdays)

Irish people drink a lot at wakes.

This also forgets the fact that you're taking the day off for work for the funeral anyway.

Twid,
Gonna get wicked drunk later.

It's basically really bad rationality.

Wake is on Sunday, so I'm getting drunk on Sunday.

This means I'll be hungover on Monday.

Monday's the first work day and I'm hungover. That sucks.

I counter that with:
Wake is on x day, so I'm getting drunk on x day.

This means I'll be hungover on y day.

Y day is the day of the funeral, regardless of what day it actually falls upon.

Considering my role in the past 4 funerals, that means I have to be hungover and be a pallbearer at the same time. Monday has nothing to do with it.  :horrormirth:

You can buy alcohol in Massachusetts on Sundays now. Liquor stores can operate between noon and 8.

I was working at a liquor store for a second job when the law changed, and I was like, great, now I don't have any days off.
