TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

The protective circle is very esoteric...  a protective circle is used by the 'magician' to keep whatever he's summoned from harming him.

WHAT?  I had NO idea!!  Where did you read this?

Errr... sorry I meant that to come across as 'agreeing', not preaching... I am sure you already knew that ;-)

Now the question is... was the circle of ash around "Jacob's" cabin used to keep something in, or out?

Well, it seems (based on the new people's discussion) that Jacob hadn't lived there in a long time... and the flash of the man in the chair that Locke saw didn't look at all like Jacob. So, I have no f'ing idea ;-)

However, I didn't see any ash circle around the statue (or on the beach in the 19th century flashback), so apparently Jacob didn't require it for his own protection from Smokey.

It seems fairly obvious the smoke monster itself cannot kill Jacob.  There are rules, and it was looking for a loophole.  That was why Ben had to be manipulated into killing Jacob.  I'm willing to bet almost every dead person on the island has really been the smoke monster, manipulating the 815 crash survivors precisely towards this goal.

Yes.  And I now don't believe the smoke monster was per se "judging" people... I think it was scanning them to see if they were a potential candidate for the loop hole.  And it found it with Locke.

SPOILER ALERT

KATE DIES AT THE START OF THE SECOND EPISODE

I just finished season one, and have started season two.  Gotta fill in tons of plot holes in between season 2 and partway through season 4.

It's all fun and games, till someone gets herpes.

This and Criminal Minds are the only two shows I've watched religiously.  My wife and I were both very excited when the new season started up.  Hopefully the boy isn't born on a Tuesday.

I read a theory somewhere that the last scene will be much like that scene with Jacob and the Man in Black.  Except, with two of the crash survivors taking their place.  Locke for Jacob and someone for MIB.  Of course, I read that before the season opener, where Sayid comes back to life which makes me wonder if he is actually now Jacob inhabiting the body of Sayid.

Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

Fuck Lost. I was peeing my pants with anticipation of the new, final season, right up until I caught the first two episodes of Caprica earlier this week. I was in AWE!

I'm up to my arse in Brexit Numpties, but I want more.  Target-rich environments are the new sexy.

Which reminds me btw Cain, thanks for the tip about Burn Notice, it's really a lot like Miami Vice, is it? :) Anyway, lighthearted action comedy with a MacGyver twist ... Me and the gf are loving it, nearly finished S01 now :D

Yeah, its not bad at all.  I've already gotten onto Season Three though, since I have no life

Things seem to be going ok, and hopefully Lost wont be ruined with some JJ Abrams hackjob Fringe tie-in ending.
I really think of Abrams as the new M. Night Shyamalan.
