I think Dok is right, everyone is overreacting, as you haven't actually done anything yet. But the idea that you're expressing, that IS elitist bullshit. I notice this and now that I have the time and wherewithal to take a more active hand here for the first time in 2 years I decide to SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT (not even DO, just SAY) and that is, apparently, bullshit and unreasonable of me.

The problem is now, I'd think, is that you keep saying that certain people have softened the boards, yet you haven't called anyone out in specific, so people that it may not be directed at are reacting as if it were directed at them. So, by not being specific, you've managed to offend people that you didn't necessarily mean to offend, and given those undesirables you were reffering to an oppotunity to jump on the "ECH is a meanie" bandwagon. Y'know what, just name some fucking names, and if these people are as terrible as you think, those that do produce content and are the true representartives of this board will run them out with torches and pitchforks. I share your perspective on a bunch of shit and I like your no-bull-shit-type attitude (hell, I'm alot like that myself IRL, just not here. I can understand that. I wasn't necessarily suggesting that you do, it's just I think there's probably a better way of going about this. I don't fully disagree with you, maybe we could stand to be a bit more forward in some of these fluffier threads but I'm not gonna be the one to do it, I'm too new and I don't think I've earned the right to start shitting on (most) people yet...

Maybe the fluff is necessary for people to churn their personal lives and issues into awesome writings.

However, not everybody on this board is a writer. And not every project on the board is about writing awesome things inspired by personal fluff issues.

And I do think that these projects are snowed under by the fluff that is apparently required for the "awesome writings inspired by personal experiences" projects.

You may have noticed that I have been posting less the past week or so, is because I took it up on myself to not go spagging about on the Internet before 16h. It does WONDERS for my productivity.
But it ALSO has shown me that dealing with the torrential flood of useless information and personal whining and tidbits that this place produces makes my head spin.
In fact it makes my head spin so much my brain turns into a motionless soup of mind-numbing lethargy. For all the bullshit fluff that apparently is such fertile ground for a couple of the writers on this board, it locks down my brain by having to wade through it, even just to try and figure out whether I should give it any attention or yank the scroll wheel.

If I'm going to keep up my "no spagging on the Internets before 16h" habit (and I plan to), you're going to be seeing a lot less of me because the actual interesting stuff gets completely buried in the contentless bull crap.


This, however, is just my opinion. And as I said, my brain is not wired properly, so I might be in the minority here. The fluff is so much that I'm all washed up and out to actually get anything done by the time I have figured out whether I want to read it or not (I usually read it anyway though).

But that's me. If everybody thinks swamping the board with fluff is absolutely required to produce awesome things such as the psycho letters, go for it. Maybe I can write a bot to read and filter the forums for me or something (like I'll ever finish such a thing, but yeah).

Which is, of course, not anything I have a problem with, I just think it's funny that you hate fluff so much when you don't produce any content yourself.
