I made an account here because I'd thought  "WooHoo, people that think like me, finally!!!".

But

1)I'm basically a boring person and rarely have any creative ideas to post.  If I posted often, it'd be total shit.  I value this place and see any current sappiness as a temporary lull in the storm.

2)My real life has been shit.  I lost my job in July.  I've not really been up to anything creative, on top of basic boringness.  I'm probably going to be employed soon, doing internal tech support for The Evil Empire(Also known as a major US Health insurance provider).  So with the weight of the job search off my shoulders, maybe my creativity will kick start.  That and I just bought some Smithwick's, which loosens me up a bit.

3)I don't know how to be part of an elitist club, but i'm pretty sure that's not what ECH was talking about.  It sounded more like tuning the environment so that the people that need it the most will be attracted to stay, and that maybe it's gotten a bit out of tune.  But who knows?  This may also be a hint that I don't have a fucking clue, and I'm fine with that too.

I think i had another point but i lost it after a long swallow of good beer.

I will temporarily lift my personal ban on responding to your idiotic posting style to answer.

Alcohol and other drugs are, as they say, tools of The Man™ to keep you complacent.

If you think you're not being creative enough, maybe putting down that beer could help.

Ok, back to ignoring your posts.

If people are going to make snarky comments on people's posting style and drinking habits, maybe they do need a special elite forum.

I would totally not be opposed to that.

Hey, I haven't changed my habits since that whole thing started.  I was ignoring him then, I'm ignoring him now.

And the alcohol/drugs thing has also been ongoing.  I drink, obviously.  And I am creative, I hope.  But I have found no corrolary between them -- in fact, I have found a negative corrolary: When I'm drunk, I think I'm creative, but the next day, it turns out I just suck.

It was a piece of helpful advice, is all.  Please don't turn this into something bigger than it needs to be.

I think this post was good advice... I think accusing THE MAN was maybe less so.

But personally, I have recently been getting the feeling that "The Man" and "The Machine" and "Them" are maybe just excuses 'cause we don't want to say "Us" or "We". It's like "Save the Planet"... Global Warming or Nuclear Disaster, doesn't matter, the Planet will be fine, it will still be spinning happily on its axis and running circles around the sun, probably with enough time to work up a whole new biological system... But if we're honest and say "Save Our Habitat From Ourselves" its not as heroic, it's not as Noble.... its kinda sad and pathetic "Please help us stop killing ourselves and our habitat cause we're too dumb to simply understand its not a good idea to shit where we sleep"

Blaming The Man and The Machine for stuff seems similar... Its a nice image to get behind (Damn The Man, Save The Empire!), but its also kind of a cop out I think. Maybe its easier to say "It a tool of The Man to keep you complacent", rather than "Its what we monkeys use to keep ourselves complacent."
