Befriending Assassin Ring - Suspect Arrested

An arrest has been made in connection with the investigation of a possible underground assassin "befriending" ring, the lawyer representing the family of the deceased Harry Shamon said Wednesday.

The family's attorney, Gerald Fnord, is not revealing details of the arrest, but it comes soon after he revealed chat log records that show Mr. Shamon soliciting friendship online, and becoming friendly with his alleged attacker before he was found dead in his basement apartment last Thursday.  Coroners at the time described the wound in the middle of his forehead as "apparently made by a thin steel rod, approximately 3-5 feet in length."  Mr. Fnord's office revealed that the chat logs were far too suspicious to be unconnected to the apparent assassination, while statements made by family members and neighbours confirm that assertion.

Holly Godwin, Shamon's cousin said, "The fact that he was talking to anybody is suspicious.  Those chat logs are definitely linked to his death." 

His neighbour, Thomas Gorman, expresses regret that he did not think to call the police sooner, and that if he had called 9-11 immediately upon seeing someone knock on Shamon's door, perhaps the victim would be alive today.  "I should have known something was up.  Nobody goes down there."

Mr. Fnord said last week that Shamon's death was linked to an "illegal and possibly massive assassin-for-hire ring," adding that details cannot be made public at this time as the investigation is ongoing and may possibly "span several continents."  However he has revealed that the assassin ring has been using "internet friendship" as a way to gain access to their targets.

Harry Shamon, a 47 year old businessman with a passion for coin collection, is described by his boss as "a real team player who never took a sick day, worked unpaid overtime unasked... he will be very missed."
