This is the Doggie that I want.  Unfortunately they are illegal over here, in case they frighten old ladies. Or eat
unwanted visitors. Shame, because their temperament is gentle and very family friendly.  Good for hunting wild boar too.

I'd call him Tweeky, and feed him well, walk him twice a day, and teach him to pull drunks out of canals. (Before they drowned)

BadBeast wants the correct Dogo Argentino. Looks like they're not illegal over in the States. Maybe I can get one, eventually.

BadBeast

There are Dogo Owners clubs in the States. They hunt Boar and Raccoons with them.
I'd put a saddle on his back, and ride him around the park.

Sorry, but that is one fugly dog.

Also, I don't think we have breeds of dog that are actually illegal as such, but there are breeds (like pit bulls) that are widely not allowed in apartments and other rentals, and are more likely to be put down just because they are that breed if they come into a shelter.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

I want a Staffordshire Terrier or Staffie mix. Maybe a Staffie/Whippet.

Pits are absolutely delightful dogs, if they come from a good bloodline and are raised right.

I think my mom's new dog Bambi has a lot of pit in her, and she is a sweety.

MANGROVE WHAT DID YOU NAME YOUR DOG?

My FBF's dog is a Pit and something mix... possibly Pit/Whippet, but it's hard to tell. She is absolutely adorable, sweet, obedient, gentle, and loving.

I agree.

It does, however, look sufficiently dog-like, which cannot be said about all types of dog.

Not that I'm probably ever going to get a dog, but hey .. :)

When I can get a dog, I want one of these.  It's a Swedish Vallhund.  Basically, a Viking corgi.

EoC makes creepy worse.

I grew up around pit bulls. I was never bit or attacked, and none of the dogs ever did such a thing. They're wonderful with kids, actually, and are usually just big playful mooshballs.

Statistically speaking, most dog attacks are (apparently) carried out by Dachsunds.

Anyway, we kept the dog's original name (Ellie). Mrs Mang thoroughly enjoyed the suggestions. In fact, she was streaming tears of laughter when I was reading them to her one night after dinner.

One of our clients at work was a dog trainer for 15+ years. Her experience is that the vast % of bad dog behavior is caused by the owners. This the reason she quit being dog trainer because she got so sick of dealing with people. The dogs were always amenable to learning and being re-trained, most owners were not.

What makes it so? Making it so is what makes it so.

Then it'd be good to take away dog ownership rights from people who own violent dogs, and to retrain the dogs and put them up for adoption...

(lol, imagining laws that work)
