Look at it this way though, if you impress your superiors, you will have a better chance at rising in rank more quickly which means better pay and, eventually if you can get a commission, less of a chance of being blown apart by an IED.

Brief summary.
I asume most things are tests from my superiors.
I don't care about impressing most of them.
My MOS is over-strength, badly.
I HATE my MOS.
I do not physicaly qualify to do the MOS I want to do in the Army.
I could if I want to reenlist to go to ROTC(reserve officers' training corp, or go to a college, get a degree and get a commission at the end of it)
I don't want to be an officer. They have to do too much ass kissing.
Junior officers still have comparable risk to being blown up as they tend to be ones leading convoys.

I either bitch to people who don't really care, and at most will tell me to stuff it, or I bitch to people that might have me painting gravel to motivate me.

And it probably gives people a good laugh, or shit to later pull out and taunt me with later.
