Wish my quote function worked.  I like what Payne and RWHN said--fits my experience  here.  I think I always INTEND to function better on this board as a superstar poster than I actually CAN...it's truly ability here.  I'm so wasted on life right now, this place is more of a distraction of the heavy duty shit rather than a place to grow and create.  So yeah, I siphon from the rest of you.  And I am sorry if you mind that.  I try to do it quietly.

You're pointing out the plain respect due for folks to have the right to bitch. I think I supported that notion in my earlier post directly to NIGEL.

         that there was just a handful of people who picked up the 'p.d. dot com' when it crashed and carried the concept far enough so that here, we all have it now. I'm still not sure what you're saying half the time, but I'm gonna attempt a reply anyway:

ECH, I believe, was saying that if anyone levels those complaints at Cain, Dok, or Himself, then they need to choke on the reply button - post haste. Perfectly valid because without those thre guys (and a few others here and there, I believe) putting in all the effort and work early doors, then there wouldn't be a forum to bitch about no effort being put in now.

ECH was not saying that this group have any more (or less) right to bitch than anyone else - he was saying that this particular group of people have paid their dues with regards to effort, content and participation already.

Not that anyone has to adhere to any kind of manifesto or any of that other tangenital stuff you went off on.

Yes, I was going to add Trip and Faust for their work on the mechanics and support side of site upkeep.  And lots of people, far too many to list them all, have put massive amounts of effort into projects like the BIP phamplets, the Wiki etc

Merely pointing out that in my individual case, I've already done a ton of work for the site, whether it was when I was the only admin, ranting, helping out on projects, trolling or simply providing content, and I don't need to prove my worth to anyone concerning the effort I've put into this place.

Personally, whenever somebody, anybody complains the board is dead or not as good as it used to be or that EVERYTHING IS A FUCKING TOOLBOX (remember the TOOLBOX?!?!!!), I either a) step up if I think it's justified b) reply what i've been doing recently instead of awesoming up the board or c) just plain ignore it.

I have this very STRANGE TENDENCY to not immediately assume that EVERY general comment made on this board is ALWAYS EXPLICITLY ABOUT ME.

but then, you know what it is? see a forum like this is basically defined by what you get from it, and what sort of thing you put into it. and for me, whether either of those things is "enough" depends on whether I think it is, and not what others say. there's been complaints about lulls in activity every once in a while, and sometimes I agreed with them, and sometimes not. the only time when it becomes a problem is when the complaints themselves start to overshadow the content, which is why I don't really think it's worth bitching about
