Glittersnatch would be a rather unfortunate condition, if a halfway decent troll name.

QuoteThe document references Harvard and research done by Harvard faculty—such as Law School professor Alan M. Dershowitz, government professor Harvey C. Mansfield '53, and psychology professor Steven Pinker—more than half a dozen times.

While I have few arguments with Pinker, I can fully understand contemplating suicide after grappling in any depth with the work of Dershowitz and Mansfield.

I don't even...I was going to upload this to my e-reader, but then I realized that it is still downloading to my computer, and that 2k pages is a lot, and I still have the death of Arthur to finish.

- So the New World Order does not actually exist?
- Oh it exists, and how!
Ask the slaves whose labour built the White House;
Ask the slaves of today tied down to sweatshops and brothels to escape hunger;
Ask most women, second class citizens, in a pervasive rape culture;
Ask the non-human creatures who inhabit the planet:
whales, bears, frogs, tuna, bees, slaughtered farm animals;
Ask the natives of the Americas and Australia on whose land
you live today, on whose graves your factories, farms and neighbourhoods stand;
ask any of them this, ask them if the New World Order is true;
they'll tell you plainly: the New World Order... is you!

As an aside, "The Seditious Genius of the Spiritual Penis of Jesus", the title of one of the chapters, would make a great name for a band.

Claiming that his work "will be repressed" denounces megalomania - we can interpret that he was also depressed.

So at least those are two maesltroms of bias to take into account.

Also someone that leeched lived on his father's inheritance.

You could also add father's death as part of something significant that biases him.

This gonna be a good read.  :lulz:

If I made that heinous table of contents, I would kill myself too.

I've enjoyed the first few dozen pages, though it needs more barstool.

Could suicide represent the pinnacle of the rational life realized?

Meh, Industrial Society and It's Future was better.

Not better written, mind you, just more interesting.

And shorter.

did he decide he had to write this and finish all 2000 pages of it before committing suicide, or did he maybe just start writing and kept it up until he finally dared/managed/succeeded/etc to actually do it?

The short version:

Man kills himself when he discovers he is an overly verbose bore.

I am the result of 13.75 ± 0.13 billion years of random chance. Now that I exist I see no reason to start planning and organizing everything in my life.

Random dumb luck got me here, random dumb luck will get me to where I'm going.

Just wanted to say, unless this has a precise psychological meaning I'm not aware of, you probably didn't mean to use that word.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&biw=1280&bih=619&q=define%3A+denounce&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

"Suggests" or possibly at a stretch "announces" (as in "announces he has megalomania") are more likely to be the words you're looking for.

Not saying this to be a jerk, only because a native Spanish speaking friend of mine this summer basically forced me to find any and all inaccuracies in his speaking and I've now gotten into the habit.  Which would be useful if I ever actually became an ESL teacher, I guess.

Denotes?

But yeah, I've actually read that part of Socrates recently.  Although he does say that death and ultimate rationality are not dissimilar in the sense he thinks of it, in the same breath he argues against suicide.

According to google, the 4th and partially the 5th definition it gives is what i meant - and no, there is no psychological term "denounce" as far as i know.

Quote from: google define denounce

  1. speak out against; "He denounced the Nazis"
  2. stigmatize: to accuse or condemn or openly or formally or brand as disgraceful; "He denounced the government action"; "She was stigmatized by society because she had a child out of wedlock"
   3. announce the termination of, as of treaties
   4. give away information about somebody; "He told on his classmate who had cheated on the exam"
     wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
   5. To make known in a formal manner; to proclaim; to announce; to declare; To criticize or speak out against (someone or something); to point out as deserving of reprehension or punishment, etc. ...
    en.wiktionary.org/wiki/denounce

Quote from: diccionario de la real lengua española
denunciar.

1. tr. Noticiar, avisar.
2. tr. pronosticar.
3. tr. Promulgar, publicar solemnemente.
4. tr.

Now, going from back to front, by using "denunciar" in spanish and then thinking of "denounce", the synonim that most accurately expresses the meaning would be "delatar", which translated to english is "to betray", but "delatar" is at the same time to "tell on someone" and not necessarily how its translated as betraying, therefore:

Claiming that his work "will be repressed" "gives away"/"is symptomatic of"/"shows" megalomania. (which now retroactively rethinking about it, it could also be paranoid-schizoid traits, or very well could be egocentrism, but true egocentrists i think rarely could understand what is understood in a book that doesnt agree with is views....)

Only in this board is where i communicate in english. An infortunate implication of reading most articles in english in all of my browsing habits, is that when i speak in spanish i create neologisms, so not only is my english borked, so is my spanish.

Anyhow, i plan on reading this when i have the time, with a mild interest in his ideas and more of an interest as a case study of mental pathology.

ETA: yes, could be "denotes"
