MysticWicks endorsement: "I've always, always regarded the Discordians as being people who chose to be Discordians because they can't be arsed to actually do any work to develop a relationship with a specific deity, they were too wishy-washy to choose just one path, and they just want to be a mishmash of everything and not have to work at learning about rituals or traditions or any such thing as that."

Look, it's really very simple.  The CityTM IS going to eat you, it's simply a matter of time.  This is an inescapable fact, and one that everyone has to face eventually.

Well, almost everyone.

I'm a little different.  You can stab me, shoot me, blow me up, make my heart do funny shit, whatever.  I'm still here.  I can, with a great deal of effort, be killed, but I can't be defeated.  I AM Tucson...For better or worse, the citizens of this City are my people, and I am their king.  I am the midnight knifing, the drunk wandering onto the highway in the middle of the night, the corpse in the dumpster.  I am that which nobody wants to look directly at, and I'm comfortable with this.

I'm comfortable with a lot of things.  The weight of a derringer in my pocket, a head full of booze and pills, the derangement of cactus at 3AM.  These are a few of my favorite things.

And when your rickety "civilization" falls down around your ears, when The MachineTM sputters to a stop, I'll still be here, braying my laughter at the misfortunes of millions.  I warned you all, but no, you knew better.  You knew that the train wouldn't stop.  You knew that having power meant you had wisdom.  You knew that the "government's" misdeeds would only happen to people that believed in that "government's" existence.

You were wrong.  You are doomed.

And I'M.  STILL.  HERE.

Okay for now,

Wow, you seem a little more frustrated than usual at the monkeys today Dok.

I felt your rage, yesterday, when I went shopping with Pixie. There were massive queues at the supermarket. I was surounded by them, Dok. I could feel the waves of paranoia, the fear that someone would cut the queue. The barely held in check random aggression. The insistant illusions of Sentient Superiority. And damn me if I wasn't get caught up in it too.

Sometimes I just want to find myself a camel hair shirt, and wander off into the wilderness, but that is not my role and the wilderness is not my place.

I am glad, however, that you are home.

Adios

Fine, Dok. But I'm taking Sedona.

Speaking of hatred that knows no bounds or party affiliation, the Westboro Baptist Church, famous for picketing the funerals of slain members of the American military, has announced plans to disrupt the funeral of the youngest of yesterday's shooting victims, 9-year-old Christina Greene.

The child was among the six fatalities that resulted from a shooting spree in Tucson by Jared Lee Loughner that left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords hospitalized with a brain injury. Christina, who was the granddaughter of former Philadelphia Phillies manager Dallas Green, had just been elected to the student council at school. She wanted to attend the event to see real government in action.

Apologies for the source, I didn't feel like finding a better one right now.

The Good Reverend Roger

Oh.

I'm going to shit on the hood of their car, while they protest.  Perhaps a little sugar down the gas tank, too.
