Bigotry is abound, apprently, within these boards.  There is a level of supposed tolerance I will have no part of.  Obviously, it seems to be well-embraced here.  I have finally found something more fucked up than what I'm used to.  Congrats. - Ruby

CONGRESS IS NOT YOUR BITCH!

Dude, please, please, GIVE IT UP!  Putting a stay on throwing out "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is a dick move on a stupid premise:  "Gotta do it right, I can't throw out the rules!"

Um, BULLSHIT.  Cf: the previous administration.  At least you can use YOUR powers for GOOD.

And saying that doing it "in the middle of the war" puts soldiers in harm's way is also "bullshit."  You think after your medical insurance debacle in Congress that you are going to get those fucks to turn over DA, DT on YOUR say-so?  Because that worked so well for whatever else you've had brewing over the last 2 years.

You know, I gave you a lot of credit before you started out, and I believed so much of what you said about change.  But this latest on the Don't Ask agenda, when you had a JUDGE knocking it down, and you wouldn't go for it, on the basis that you wanted it "done right," I said FUCK IT.

You're a liability to your own party, Mr. President.  Do you NOT get this?  You mobilized a majority of the nation to go WITH you, not against you, and then you bit the big one.

I hear a lot about being patient.  So I wait you out.  But your track record on 1) GITMO 2) outsourcing torture 3) keeping the illegal wiretaps 4) re-upping assasination of US citizens 5)  turning away aid after BP oil spill and 6) now DA, DT just tells me you are NOT in the game, man.

CONGRESS IS NOT YOUR BITCH.  So quit pretending it is--because pandering to some dumbass idea of "can't we all just get along" don't matter when you're in the fight of your life...get in the GAME, Dude.

Ah, Alphadude, Obama may be short on delivery, but you always got the goods.  :D

So if Obama appeals it all the way to the SC, then the SC will make a final decision OR Congress will dump the law before then.

If Obama doesn't appeal, then the military will have to allow service members to be openly gay and Congress wouldn't bother to do anything. Then the next President could appeal the decision, take it to the Supreme Court and then the SC will make a final decision... OR Congress will dump the law before then.

So finalization seems rational to me.

Does anyone REALLY think that SCOTUS *and* Congress can be counted on to do the right thing, here?

My point is that ultimately... no matter what Obama does, it can end up there. If he does nothing now, then there will be openly gay service members that may get the shaft from the next administration. The President can't make/repeal laws with finality the way that SCOTUS and Congress can.

Remember Bush didn't appeal the Cable Television Act, later Clinton did... and won.

Um, but that still doesn't excuse him putting a STAY on it...

You Lied.
You suck.
GTFO.

:lulz:

I just want him to finish out his term with more purpose to getting shit DONE.  And quit with the bullshit that he's gonna get Congress to give him what he wants on a fucking silver platter, and when they don't, he needs to buckle so it looks like he's salvaging something.

I'm tired of him half-assing his shit.

Do I need to slap you awake, or do you want to finish your dream?

in another thread, I mentioned that Obama is full of shit, on purpose. he is not "Weak," he is not "Stupid;" he simply lied to people about who he was and what he wanted to do as President. He knows full well that the GOP couldn't be any more hateful toward him if he really were a "crazy extreme socialist." He also knows that none of his pandering to the Right has won him an ounce of respect among them. He did all of this because he intended to do it, not because he is just very bad at his job (although there is an argument to be made that he is).

If Obama really gave two shits about changing the bullshit in Washington, he would call up Harry Reid and inform him that from now on the Senate will be run according to the rules found in the Constitution, not according to "parliamentary rules" as it is now. The need for a "Supermajority" to defeat a "Filibuster" would be a thing of the past, and Congress could start getting things done. But, no, the game is played how it is, and he is playing it like the rest of them because he is one of them.
