I don't know what's wrong with you people.

I am perfectly comfortable knowing that Cuddlefist has no problems with me.
I can accept that my every post is a vision of beauty in his eye.

Me too.  :)  I think it's grand to not be hated.  For once.

Why do you persist in being civil to them?

I don't know.  I DO know that if they step tonight, the way I'm feeling, I'll probably rip them a new one and embarrass the hell out of someone who isn't me in public.

They had the audacity to tell my husband NOT to come to their house to stay the night because they were mad at him for helping his cousin escape their grasp and visit other people while she was out here from the UK.  THIS from the man who fought me at 5 am in the morning when my husband was puking blood on his deathbed in the hospital.

YEAAAAH, where's that loyalty now?  You bar your son the door over something trivial like that?  FUCK OFF.  You obviously have loyalty and love for him WHEN IT SUITS YOU.  What fucking faillure at life his dad is.

Meh, it's a longass story, but suffice it to say, my father-in-law chose THAT moment in my life to try to nail my balls to the wall and tell me HE'S more loyal and closer to my husband than *I'LL* ever be.

Short answer:  Marriage.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

They aren't staying in your home, are they?

Not good enough.  You're married to HIM, not THEM.  Boot them out on their arses, and expect your husband to man up about it.

If he doesn't, feed him through a chipper.

Hail to the naws, because I'd probably kill them while they slept.  Our home is not "good enough" for them, anyway.  They require ***** treatment complete with  maid and butler at their service...

I do feed him through a chipper or attempt to at any rate when they pull shit on ME...this latest is on HIM, and he's willing to put up with it...for now.  I will step to his defense if they try anything.

Luckily, I think we've maneuvered it such that we are meeting at a restaurant.  Helps to be in neutral territory.

I don't know the whole situation, but I'd have it out in the restaurant, once and for all.

AFK

I feel lucky to have in-laws who are just annoying.  Sucks to have in-laws who are annoying AND are assholes.
Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

Jenne

Yeah, I've been getting meaner as the years go by, but truly, they say the worst kind of things, that I get this sort of inertia and shock that comes over me at their audacity.  You know, like when I was showing my wedding photos to my stepmonster-in-law and she looks at the photo of my mom and me and says "Oh that dress COULDN'T HAVE FIT HER like that when she bought it!"

I now expect to feel shitty in their presence--it used to ruin my whole day/month/life.  But now, I'm sort of blase about it.  I just feel annoyance.  I'm at this moment pissed at them for something they did to HIM, but if he's not going to make a big deal about it...I will only go so far.  They're coming here to celebrate my kid's birthday with him.  So I have to give them a teensy weensy bit of credit for that.  Esp since my kid's other grandpa is still in the clink...
