Also, as a side note... the Internet is full of idiots that believe in Magick and psychic powerz and spells.... the Internet is also full of Discoordians that say "fnord" and babble incoherently. These two groups have much in common, they get the milk of the message, but not the meat (to steal from the Apostle Paul).

Oh you mean like larping?

The only appropriate place for "Wicca" is preceding the phrase "-wicca-wild-wild-west"

Or if he is working on his own consciousness, or working on an artistic project, perhaps?  Magic(k) is wonderful for helping jump start creative projects.

But that's a really confusing and unnecessarily gratuitous use of the word "magic" and you shouldn't be at all surprised when people assume you hold paranormal beliefs. (Alan Moore is cool imho though)

Look, asshole:  Your 'incomprehensible' act, your word-salad, your pinealism...It BORES ME.  I've been incomprehensible for so long, I TEACH IT TO MBA CANDIDATES.  So if you simply MUST talk about your pineal gland or happy children dancing in the wildflowers, go talk to Roger, because he digs that kind of shit

I'm personally unconcerned with the impressions others hold about my beliefs.  And, it is not an unnecessarily gratuitous use of the word magic from my perspective.

I am generally a very skeptical person, and I hold no illusions as to the purported supernatural element of "magick", except when I wish to use it for a project I am working on.  When I am using magic, in that moment, I believe it completely and will not accept any sort of "normal" every day reason to enter the situation.  That is a moment killer.

However, after the fact, is a completely different matter.  After the operation is over I am completely skeptical about it, and scrutinize every aspect of it.  It's useful to me, so I use it when I need it.  Why would I not use it simply because some people might jump to the erroneous conclusion that I believe in supernatural powers?

But like brainstorming is a word used by suits

Naah. It's "mind mapping" now. "Brainstorming" is offensive to epileptics. What's this about, by the by?

It's my personal opinion that the world is strange enough without believing in supernatural mummery OR mindfucking yourself.

But again, that's just my own personal belief.

As an aside, if anyone's involved in the manufacture or sale of toilet paper, I'm sorry I compared it to "Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology". Nobody deserves that.

I rely on mania for that.

Question that just occured: has anyone, anywhere, ever been described as "peccable"?
I was attacked by a Penguin at Longleat when I was about 6, probably because, (according to my ex,) I just look so fucking peccable.

Well... that depends. If you read most "magic" books... from Crowley to Farber to Carroll and even back into the really old stuff like Abramelin... it very much ties to psychology, philosophy, self-mindfuckery and modification of the consciousness of the 'magician'. The paranormal perception tied to it is from people that don't read (or don't comprehend) what the authors are saying (or they just read Monte Cooks Arcana Unleashed).

I mean, we hang out at principiadiscordia.com, one of the more obvious URL's for 'discordianism'. Many discordians seem to hold pinealistic beliefs, does that mean we should seperate ourselves entirely from Discordianism, or does it just mean that there are idiots in any model?

Why not just call it self-mindfuckery, then?

Why not just call it self-mindfuckery, then?

Because the word that was coined for it was magic.  That word just got corrupted over time.
