Their mental health should not be questioned. I mean a country that had no adverse effects after having two Nukes dropped on it is bound to be fine right?

Glittersnatch would be a rather unfortunate condition, if a halfway decent troll name.

Fukushima Plant Stabilized:

http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/RS_Stabilisation_at_Fukushima_Daiichi_2003111.html

QuoteWorkers on site have succeeded in increasing the stability of the Fukushima Daiichi reactors, with units 5 and 6 now in cold shutdown. Pressure built up within unit 3 but a more significant venting does not seem necessary now.

External power has now been connected to unit 5 and 6, allowing them to use their residual heat removal systems and transfer heat to the sea. This has been used to cool the fuel ponds and bring the units to cold shutdown status, meaning that water in the reactor system is at less than 100ºC.

Trying to find out how many of the 50 are still alive...
We appear to be doomed by our DNA to repeat the same destructive behaviors our forebears have repeated for millenia. If anything our problem solving skills have actually diminished with the advent of technology & our ubiquitous modern conveniences. & yet despite our predisposition towards fear-driven hostility; towards what we anachronistically term primitive behavior another instinct is just as firmly encoded in our make-up. We are capable as our ancestors were of incredible breathtaking acts of kindness. Every hour of every day a man risks his life at a moments notice to save another. Forget for a moment the belligerent benevolent billionaires who grant the unfortunate a crumb of costfree cake. I speak of pure acts of selflessness. A Mother who rushes into the street to save a child from a speeding vehicle. A person who runs into a burning building to reach a family trapped on the upper story. Such actions, such moments, such unconscious selfless decisions, define what it is to be human

Good: Japanese work ethic will see a faster recovery than if this happened to many other areas. I suspect.

Bad: japan fails at adequate treatment of mental health issues. Expecting a sharp suicide spike.

Up to 90% of people come out of disasters like this with no long-term mental issues or need for treatment.

Besides, counsellors have been sent from foreign countries have been sent along with specialist rescue teams for that 10% or so who may need help.  Along with search and rescue teams and food, they're usually considered a priority in such situations.

I'm more worried about a slower economic recovery.

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

I'm freaked out because things were definitely on the upswing for me, and people stopped buying after the earthquake.

you were selling a good amount to Japanese?

I do sell to Japanese buyers, and in fact one of my founding patrons is in Japan, but mostly it's that Americans went into crisis-guilt mode and are sitting tight. It'll ease up in a couple of weeks but people clamp down on money when there's a disaster, even if it doesn't affect them. It's just the way it is.
