As much as I appreciate the aesthetics of navkat's ass, I would probably have been willing to go without if it meant not accidentally having to watch/listen to bounce music (which is actually properly termed sissybounce since it was recently unearthed and reappropriated by the queer community; the original bounce music was the stuff being done by Juvenile before he hooked up with Cash Money back in the day).

This is a good a time as any... Could someone explain the subtle nuances that distinguish "Bounce" from similar hiphop styles of the time? I've heard Juvenile try to explain it, but it was some gibberish about hihats and bad production values.

It's just fun. I don't like it all day long but every so often, I find myself not able to stop looking.

The"bounce" in this song is in both the production techniques in the vox sampling and the use of the TB-808 to create the cowbelly, Oldskool freestyle backbeat. I just SOUNDS bouncy.

Like a big, meaty butt...jigglin.

I can't off the top of my head define Bounce from other Hip-hop styles.

Times like these, I wish I'd taken musical theory.

The beat goes "BOING-bumpa-bumpa-bumpa, BOING-bumpa-bumpa-bumpa" instead of "BOOM! buh-BOMP, boom-boom buh-BOMP" or "shu-ffle-BOOM, shu-ffle-BOOM!"

And it chugs along like a train...a train full of booty.

Believe it or not, that makes sense. Emphasis on the One, de-emphasize the backbeat. Bootsy era JBs did this fairly often.
