I just don't understand any kind of absolute egalitarianism philosophy. Whether it's branded as anarcho-capitalism or straight anarchism or sockfucking libertarianism, it always misses the same point.

QuoteMarching in step with the GOP's nationwide war on a woman's right to choose, the Idaho legislature gave final approval to a bill that would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks. Modeled after Nebraska's first-in-the-nation measure, the bill — like the one passed in Kansas last week — is based on highly disputed medical research alleging that a fetus can feel pain at 20 weeks. Idaho's bill, however, also fails to include exceptions for rape, incest, severe fetal abnormality or the mental or psychological health of the mother. "Only when the pregnancy threatens the mother's life or physical health could a post-20-week abortion be performed."

Quote"Is not the child of that rape or incest also a victim?" asked Rep. Shannon McMillan, R-Silverton. "It didn't ask to be here. It was here under violent circumstances perhaps, but that was through no fault of its own."

QuoteThe Idaho bill's House sponsor, state Rep. Brent Crane, R-Nampa, told legislators that the "hand of the Almighty" was at work. "His ways are higher than our ways," Crane said. "He has the ability to take difficult, tragic, horrific circumstances and then turn them into wonderful examples."

Then once it's born he'll work very hard to make sure the child doesn't have health care, social support or a decent education.

Wow, no provision for severe deformity? Because, I had a friend who had an abortion at 22 weeks because her fetus' brain was on the outside, as in, there was no possibility of it surviving birth if it made it to term. Letting that baby go to term and then die during birth would have been unspeakably cruel.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Nah, their god doesn't give a shit.  Or he suddenly started giving a shit after 3000 years of not caring.  They just hate birth control in general, but they can pretend that abortion is about something other than a woman being a baby factory.

As someone who grew up in Idaho: fffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkk.  :argh!:

Problem is, Idaho's one of those states that should probably be two states. Northern Idaho is alright. Yeah, it still has its share of rednecks and people with stupid prejudices, especially when you get up into Bonner County, but for the most part it's a live-and-let-live kind of environment, similar to the mindset in Montana (actually I've been known to tell people that northern Idaho is just western Montana with cows instead of sheep). Northern Idaho's the kind of place where people still want their guns and bibles but, given enough time, might eventually legalize gay marriage based on the civil rights and equality arguments. On the red/blue index, it's pretty much purple. It's not a perfect place, and I wouldn't ever want to go back to living there full-time, but it's not awful, either.

Southern Idaho, on the other hand, is full of crazy religious wackos and is basically just northern Utah. Seriously, Mormons everywhere, and the local laws and culture reflect that. Unfortunately, that's where the state capitol is, that's where most of the state's tax dollars go when it comes to infrastructure, and there's just barely enough of a majority of the population down there to keep Idaho permanently red on the electoral map. Fuck southern Idaho.

Missing the point.  This isn't about saving cute little brine shrimp-looking fetuses.

It's about telling you what to do.  Putting you in your place.  And if that means a few harlequin babies have to suffer for a few hours or days, well, that's a small price to pay for adherence to the Book of Timothy.

In Africa, they use children for soldiers.

Here, we use them as weapons, just with a bit more subtlety.
