This is a thread where you post your realizations about the horrific actions of almost-humans.

I'll start:

I just realized that it's in the Republican's best interests to kill any economic recovery that may have occurred, be occurring, or will occur until the 2012 elections; and if Obama wins re-election, until 2016.  If the economy recovers with Obama in power, it will be much harder for the GOP to win elections.  Therefore, they are actively hindering any attempts to save the economy.

It took you this long to realize this?

They decided the day Obama took office that he could not be permitted to achieve anything positive.

I understood that on a basic level, but it only recently struck me that they are actively working for the country to fail, just so they can get a chance at the brass ring.

AFK

I don't know if it rises to the level of horrific, but the Donald Trump "candidacy" for the GOP 2012 nomination.  Just because he is using the birther angle to fuel what I think most people understand to NOT be an earnest attempt to get the nomination, and instead, is just another Trump Gimmick(tm) to get people to watch his stupid reality TV show.  Yet, there are people out there who ARE taking him seriously.

AND people, including the White House, are yet again taking the bait and wading back into the birther controversy.

A ticket of Palin/Bachmann has a better shot at getting elected than that moron.  Why are the media paying attention to him?  Oh yeah........$$$$$$$$$$$

Not sure any of this would properly be Horrorology, as none of it is outside of our frames of reference.  More like a study in loathing.

On the other hand, I am a cynical bastard, and I expect all this stuff.  It might be utterly new to some.

For example, the "spending cuts" amounted to a whole 1% of the spend, and were exclusively targeted by the social agenda of the lunatic right...IE, the military GAINS $5 Bn, but WIC loses half a billion, Planned Parenthood takes it in the neck, etc.  The basic blueprint is this:  Ensure poor women have loads of kids, then take away all the funding that helps nourish, raise, educate, etc, those kids.

I seem to remember talking about the banality of Evil recently...

The horror there is seeing that many of the people most affected by this kind of evil are part of those who elected to inflict it upon themselves.

The thought of Donald Trump being taken seriously as a presidential candidate makes me want to laugh and scream at the same time.  Since they both have reality shows to promote, I think there's a possibility we may see an attempted Trump/Palin ticket.  :x
