ED was already suffering a slow death anyways.

The advertisers got pissy about the lolcow articles and racist articles.
So ED started going down the road of self censorship. The plan was for it to focus more on 4chan and memes,
basically it would become know-your-meme with bad words.

I just hope someone saved most of those pages. Years and years of documented Internet drama could be lost.

If the Smithsonian's front entrance facade was a giant statue of goat.se that you had to walk into to get in the building, and the place itself was full of the best (worst?) of Daily Rotten, unfunny, forced /b/ memes, then yeah, I'd agree with you.

Otherwise, I don't see how anyone could possibly compare the two.
