Some have the mistaken impression that shagging someone of higher status confers that status upon them.  Technically, it CAN work... if the person they're banging fights for them in crown and wins, she gets to be queen.

However, it is not uncommon to see somebody who could very well win get his ass kicked, hard, because the lady for whom he fights would be, in the opinion of the other chivalry, unacceptable on the throne.  

Yep, I have been in discussions where members of the Chiv will figure out who can beat the guy and make sure they're in Crown Tourney, not to win, just to keep the other guy from winning. Nice to know Midrealm isn't alone in that

Right now, I'm making bets with myself on exactly who she's going to screw around on him with.

It'll either be her new boss at work, or someone with more prestige in the SCA.  (My guess is that she thought that his position as a squire to a respected member of the chivalry would be her way back to some kind of respectability in the SCA...  She doesn't realize that he was squired because he was seeing ME, so the household adopted HIM.)  I expect she'll attempt a member of the chivalry, next.

The SCA is a complex social system and there are people with as much sleaze and poor political skill as there are in the real world. The ratio is thankfully lower, and the general response to that kind of sleaze is generally very negative from the rest of the group.

People in the SCA tend to push for ideals like honor and chivalry; belt chasers and the like often end up as the butt end of jokes and part of the general gossip.
