TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Yep!

And I have to go back up there later anyway so I can get my costumes in for the gallery. I'm still doing that...and they will see my awesome and realize that, "Wow, Suu is far superior to the lowly secretarial work we had her do."

Also: I'm thinking of setting up an appointment with an advisor at Brown. Why the fuck not? It's not like URI fucking challenges me. I got into Brown already, may as well see if it's true that I can get a free ride.

I like the Luna one. She is a good one.

Yep. I'm staying on through the week. The culprit of my canning hasn't said a word to me. I've already finished the project that was left for me...and I have 2 and a half hours to go.

I feel like I'm sitting and typing on eggshells.

It sounds like the main problem was funding cuts, right?  I have a feeling that the person didn't really want to fire you, they simply couldn't afford to pay you.

Suu

True. She's always been a snip, though. I feel like there's more, but I won't post it on a public forum.

My suspicions were confirmed on interoffice issues. Fucking guttersniped.

My lay off is...TEMPORARY!

But, I'm not staying in administration, I'll be moving down to Student Services for 2nd session, which means I will have a full month without work...but...I don't have to stop working at the University.

Departments are not connected, so no matter what Exec Assistant #2 says about me, it doesn't matter. Marketing Director and Admin Assistant #1 cornered me when I was leaving today, they have an app for me to work in SS, and the Director of SS said she would hire me. They're PISSED this happened, but they don't have the authority to go over exec assistant #2's call, and with the Vice Provost not being in this week and Exec Assistant #1 being out for 3 months, it's pretty obvious that it was planned to go this way. I'd already be out of the system before either of them could override what she did. Guttersnipe. UGH.

(Remember kids, if you do your projects at work with positive Roman Efficiency in your goddamn Industry Professionalness, it apparently looks like you rush, and you're not doing anything. (I got written up in middle school for much the same reason, once.))

Well, I hope they have a good time getting by my brick wall of chaotic organization in Access. My databases bring all the boys to the yard.

So wait. They're . . . pissed . . . because you . . . get shit DONE!?

Does not compute.

Yes, because getting stuff done QUICKLY means I'm rushing it, and when I pace myself, that means I'm slacking.

That's a sure sign of GREYFAIL, right there.

The primary metric should be accuracy.
The secondary metric should be efficiency/speed.

If you get it done right, then how fast it takes shouldn't be an issue, provided you aren't slowing down the workflow.

If you're fucking up the work and missing details then yeah, you're rushing.  If you nail 100% accuracy, then everyone should be adopting your process.

Suu

This has gotten me in trouble before.

In 7th grade, my biology teacher gave me a referral because he told me to finish my work, I said I was done, and he said I was defiant. I went to my administrator, showed him my work, and instead of suspension I got morning detention. Lucky me.

When I worked at the TV studio, I cleaned up our whole website's PHP, in a week (it was a fucking mess) in addition to doing my lower 3rds and graphic work for the station. I was turning around the ads so fast that my boss didn't believe me, said I was slacking, and I had to get the other department who the ads were for to come in and save me. I ended up losing that job anyway when they eliminated my position.

At the bank in Boston, I would get prodded by the supers for not working fast enough, but at the end of the day, I'd have done 300 calls.  :?

I was "that kid" that came home from school, sat at the kitchen table and did my homework without question until it was done before I went and did anything else.

People just can't handle efficiency when the standard is mediocre work. When I can do a 3000 piece mailing here in 2 days, including putting all the labels in zip code order, how is that NOT BEING ATTENTIVE TO MY WORK? Since I've worked in this office I've rebuilt 2 databases in Access, done more ridiculous mailings then I wanted, took on the role of a peer financial aid advisor, and bent over backwards with odd jobs. The day someone doesn't get what they want out of me because I'm focused on another task, I get shafted.

If I slack, you can tell I'm slacking, and I totally do. I can knock out an order of Royal Guard robes in 4 hours of work, that doesn't mean I want to do it all the time. (Next week, on the other hand...back to the grind stone.)

You must have been having either rotten luck or had one foot out the door, because that sort of behavior usually gets you promoted if you stick to it.  That's what happened to me.  Started as a data-entry temp, and kept taking on more responsibilities; said "yes" to any additional requests, got shit done, and got more responibilities and more money.

And I'm still able to post here 8 hours a day.
