BTW as long as you're with a free "register to get yr own forum" type host, be sure to make loads of backups.

A few years ago RWHN set up a forum at attheforum.com, where we had lots of great discussion and material about the Machine, BIP and the Origin of the Lie, and suddenly at some point they accidentally all of their databases and even though they did have backups, they were like fuck it let's go bowling. Then (as it seems now) they set up shop again but all of the old forums were gone.

Moral of the story, you get what you pay for. Even though it's probably unlikely, for the attheforums ppl fucked up big time (we should've HIMEOBSed the fuck out of em), having backups is easy and always a good thing.

I just got a domain on a normal shared server. I guess it takes a day or two until it actually goes through, but that hasn't stopped me from slamming my face into a brick wall for the last hour and half.

They won't even let you make backups are forumer.com for security reasons.  
But that place was out anyway since they're terms of service include a prohibition of
"Adult/Obscene behavior" and "Harrassment". While I'd like to think that those good folks would be reasonable about..well who am I kidding eh? One pissed off noob clicks the Report button and the whole place gets nuked.
