I looked on a couple of druggie forums, and there are active, sincere discussions between people there about how to make the stuff. They all seem to be convinced that THEY can make it safely, and that the only reason it's rotting the flesh off Russians is because of "impurities".

One thing I noticed many years ago is that no matter how heinous the behavior, everyone makes an exception for themselves. We start out believing we're immortal (which is why six-year-olds claim that THEY wouldn't die if they did X idiotic dangerous thing) and then experience gradually shows us that we are mortal and fallible, and we become more cautious. However, I have repeatedly witnessed adults engaging in behavior they have condemned others for, because our nature is to convince ourselves that in OUR case, it's DIFFERENT.

Of course, it's not. I am convinced that every single human being does this, including myself, and that I am blind to my idiocy and hypocrisy when I am making an exception for myself.

However, at least I ain't blind enough to shoot up insanely addictive drugs that will rot the meat off my bones.
