The Queen (David Norris): Self appointed queen of gay people and Drama magnet, his presidential campaign has been a tough one because of letters emerging where he pleaded for clemency for a former lover who had been arrested for statuary rape. Not all that awful a thing to do, but he did it on official government letterhead.

The Mary (Mary Davis): a quarter of the republics history has been with a Mary as the presidential candidate, as such dark forces conspire to continue this trend. Upon winning this election the shoggoth inhabiting Mary McAleese will detach itself from her lower intestine and lodge itself to it's new host.

The Dragon (Seán Gallagher): Entrepreneur and self made millionaire Seán Gallagher is selling himself entirely on his Randian appeal and his celebrity persona as one of the Dragons of the business investment program Dragons Den. (I'm probably going to vote for this guy).

The Dana: Washed up Celebrity and former winner of the European song contest Dana has so far pre-emptively denied allegations about her that eh... never appeared. As a devout Catholic Dana probably resurrect traditional Catholic traditions such as child molestation and beating young pregnant girls.

The Relic(Michael Dee Higgins): Very soothing voice, probably a good choice for international relations but there is a strong chance he would die in office (presidency of Ireland is 7 years), if not during this presidential campaign.

I've seen the Mary Davis ones, but mostly when I was passing through Galway City. The only ones I've seen here are the Gay Mitchell one.

Dana Rosemary Scallon has vowed to continue her Irish presidential campaign despite "malicious lies" spread about a member of her family.

Ms Scallon told TV3 News that she had been warned by a freelance journalist that allegations of a "sexual nature" were due to appear in the Irish press.

She said that prompted her to make a statement during a presidential debate on RTE on Wednesday.

She told viewers that she was taking legal action over the claims.

Although she initially refused to state what the "untrue, malicious and vile" allegations were, she admitted on Friday that they were of a sexual nature involving a relative.

She also referred to a "threatening" email she had received, which is understood to have originated in the US.

"I had received an anonymous email on the Saturday night. It wasn't signed," she said.

"I won't be able to share all that was in the mail. It said 'hahahahaha the b**** is finally getting what she deserves' and went on from there to make false accusations."

Ms Scallon said the claims were part of an "orchestrated campaign" against her.

LIBEL ACTION: DANA ROSEMARY Scallon has refused to retract statements she made about members of her family, despite their threat of legal action.

It emerged yesterday that Ms Scallon's niece Susan Gorrell and her sister Susan Stein have told the candidate and TV3 of their intention to issue libel proceedings against them unless she withdraws allegations made last week.

The legal firm representing Ms Gorrell and Ms Stein issued a statement saying libel proceedings would be issued unless "totally unfounded and highly defamatory allegations made during the course of a broadcast on October 14th are retracted immediately".

The statement by Paul Tweed, senior partner with the solicitors' firm Johnsons, added: "My clients are completely bemused as to why this extremely distressing issue has been raised at this time and in such a manner."

On the campaign trail in Wexford yesterday, Ms Scallon said she would be not be retracting her comments on TV3.

Separately, Ms Scallon has made a formal statement to the Garda regarding her suspicions that her car tyre was tampered with prior to an incident in which it blew out as she was being driven to Dublin on Tuesday night.

Garda sources have told The Irish Times there is no evidence at present to suggest the tyre was tampered with.

Not saying that she's a paranoid loony, but you have to admit, her actions suggest she is a paranoid loony.
