So... I'm working on my first novel.

I just finished my rough draft 2 weeks ago.

I saved and closed the file, and haven't reopened it since.

I believe Stephen King gave that as advice also.  He said don't look at it for at least two weeks, kick back, read something entirely different from what you've been working on, and if you're writing something else, write something different too.

Then go back and look at it with fresh eyes.

This is where I went wrong. I started writing the sequel...but the pace is already VERY different, and the research I've had to do is pretty vile. Either way, I have finals now, ANYWAY, so I doubt I'll be touching any fiction until the big papers are done and submitted next week.
