"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."
- TGRR, raising the bar at work.

eris be praised!

on a less lighter note, but no less or more serious one, just make sure to remember the price of all this, even of those who sign the bill aren't  paying for it.

Me, too.

But perhaps we would be better served taking more than a fw moments to try to prevent it from happening AGAIN.

Because it's coming.

I was at a birthday party for a freind once... and she hushed everyone( she was throwing her birthday party in the morning). Her grandfather was injured in that and He lost a few good friends...

she was born on nov. 11.

That year I started observing until then I guess that history did not speak to me the way it does now....
Constitution?!?!? Isn't that a D&D stat.

1996 wasn't shit.  Most Americans have already forgotten it.

Fact is, we've been hiding behind an "invincible" army (having spent 10 years in that army, I can assure you it is NOT invincible) for so long that we can't even smell the blood on our hands, anymore.

But that doesn't mean it will always be that way.  Go ask the Athenians.

A friend of mine recently came back from Iraq, he had a few interesting stories to tell. One of them, that I thought was hilarious, was how he was on the highway back to his base from falluja... and he saw some army EOD guys hard at work.

One of them was banging on the tip of a large shell that was buried in the ground with a hammer.

He said he was a little confused by that one, and I would be too.

Sounds like a prank.  Empty shell casing.

I've seen similar jokes.

Heh, makes sense. I thought about signing up with the air force and specifically requesting EOD. I figured, I'd rather be cleaning up mine-fields and detonating misfired artillery shells from a distance, than actually shooting people... hell, that would be fun

but somehow I dont think they'd let me pick my job.

Horab Fibslager

that's the problem with joining th emilitary now aint it? :P

Irakis banging on shells with a hammer is not uncommon at all, and is no prank. They collect the copper rings on the shells to sell them later. I get this from a Sergeant who came back just a few days ago.

Here's a small ray of good news: it's believed that John Ashcroft and Tom Ridge are stepping down, and that Donald Rumsfeld and Colin Powell (the only human being on the Bush administration, unfortunately) will step down within the next four years. About time.

My worry is who will take their place.

Looks like promotion time for Karl Rove. And you thought Ashcroft was bad.
