It's really a big circle, isn't it?

Look at it like a clock. If you go to far you end up at 12 either way.

Twid,
looks like... err... 8:30 in my time zone.

Great analogy. The leap from far left to far right seems really short at times.

Lenin,
Is about 6:00 in my time zone. Around 12 in Amuhrica then.

Within my analogy that means you'r flat out totalitarian centrist. I don't think that applies to you. I put American Democrats at 5:00.

Correction. I saw 12 for some reason. Never mind.

Oh, I see. You don't qualify as 12 Merkin time. More  like 9:00, if I reckon right. Around my time. 12 is absolute as is 6.

Oh, shit. It's 9:28 here.

Just noticed that EFO is right now tripping out on African identiy.

Hmm... when you get into ethnicity it gets interesting. You get conflicting things.

Prime example, the Irish Republican Army is historically Socialist, sometimes borderline Communist. But the common thread is Irish Unification within the Republic.

Now what do you want? A united Ireland or an Irish Socialist Republic? You get conflicting interests... You get comrades against a religious front, and you get atheist comrades who have to align with Catholic interests.

It's really interesting. (I used to be a Catholic nationalist, then I was a Pagan who sided with Catholic interests, now I am a Discordian who says, "whatever you want guys. Your call. Just don't fuck up the Republic as odd as its ways seem to American Eyes."

Sometimes I hate being binational. But as far as Northern Ireland is concerned, American Twid and Irish Twid seems to be in some sort of reluctant agreement. For the good of the Republic.

Twid,
Reluctant Unionist.

Ethnicity does create really weird conflicts. As a native American, I actually find that I have different priorities than as a Black American.

It's been brought up in the past few days.

You're a Jewish American Democrat. You're liberal as fuck, except when it comes to Israel.

Now, I'm a lefty. I like a mixed economy. So, on a totally ideological level, I agree with Sinn Fein, at least how it existed in the past. But, once you start offing civilians, you lose all credibility. And even though democracy is a fool's game, if the North doesn't want to be part of the Republic, then I support their decision. I support any decision that Northern Ireland makes as long as it takes about 55%-60% of the vote.

Elements in my other homeland may want one thing, but unless the people in that province want the same thing, my countrymen can shut the fuck up.

I'm also pretty sure that Faust (who is from an entirely different province) agrees, even though I am not 100% sure (I am 80% sure).

The example of the Jewish American Democrat is also an oversimplification, and a trope, as per my Irish American example. I'm friends with a German American Jewish raised atheist who doesn't give a shit about Israel. It is possible, though difficult, to divorce your ancestral inclinations entirely and think about the situation objectively.

Though, I admit, my politics regarding the North are an antireaction to the attitudes of fellow Americans in Boston of Irish descent, and I feel a certain smugness about being Hibernian Irish as opposed to them. I'm more willing to entertain the politics of an Irish immigrant to Boston, or an American who holds dual citizenship than a townie with a last name that has an O, Mc, or Mul-

I also find the idea that as an African American and a Native American that there are different priorities. It's worth exploring. Hmm... brb.
