Twid, I assume that one of these holists is you, but as your sig is gone, I cannot check your music again to a) offer detailed substantiation for my criticism (I get paid, too, you know, for music... :) ) b) retract and grovel. Can I have a link, please? Or would you rather that I really did suspend communication altogether?

However, you want to criticize me directly, I am the male vocalist on Stare At The Sun and Nightmares.

I am the main guitarist on Stare at the Sun.

I am the 7 string guitar on Monster, the 12 string and the most varied riffs on Skinless and Good vs. Evil, and an equal measure on Trojan Horse. I have taken no solos on this album. The only song I don't play guitar on is Nightmares.

Fair.

You can critique my music as long as you don't criticize it for the sake of criticism, and bear in mind that we obviously don't have similar musical tastes.

Interesting to poke for a little while, maybe. But I think we've seen all the tricks this pony has.

You haven't.
Really? Because there's been absolutely no sign of you being anything but insufferable, easily butthurt, condescending to people when they don't give you slobbery praise, and perpetually going after a handful of people, myself among them. Seriously, dude. Fuck off.

Okay. But what you are saying is not true: I have posted a great deal of music, art: this didn't get any responses at all because you were already hostile. The only reason for that is that I am still unwilling the accept that some of the most vocal people here are not as brilliant as seems to be concensus (oh, and homeopathy, I guess). When I do offer my music once more, as evidence for my competence in talking about music, I get grudging acknowledgement of the sort "I guess you can play, but you're still crap". But okay, I will not talk to you again. I think it would be fair for you not to enter slagging-matches about me in return, but should you feel otherwise, and still feel the need to say "holist is such an asshole, nyah" every now and again to balance up your glandular brain-soup, feel free. Won't be troubling you again, until you ask for it.

you pay for a download.

I'd pay for yours. Just saying. Even though it's not my bag.

Sounds like emotional maladjustment, anger management problems in particular.

Anger is in fact a great deal of fun. But if it's chronic, it destroys the organism. Hopefully transhumanisation becomes available before it does.

Or you could just stop getting worked up over the trivial facts of life, retune your radio, and enjoy the occasional burst of wrath when it is actually justified.

Because being angry is fun, but being righteously angry in a justified fashion and taking appropriate action as a result is one of the best things in life.

Again. You can tell me you don't like it.

Don't insult me by telling me I don't know what I am doing.

I am getting confused as to what you are allowing me to do now, Twid.

I have already told you I don't like it: I probably wouldn't like it even if it was brilliantly produced, with a great deal of original musical ideas, because  as you put it, it's not my bag. But I am certainly capable of recognising creative and production values: I know, for instance, that Led Zep was genious (actually, I make an exception for some of their stuff and actually listen to it occasionally), and I also know, for instance, that there are some extremely talented musicians choosing to work in the Scandinavian death metal genre - though the reason escapes me, except for it being dark much of the time, all year round...

But telling you I don't like it is a statement about me, largely, and not your music. Neither is it criticism. Tell you what, I will try to criticise, keeping your advice in mind, and then you tell me how you feel about it. And I will pay for a download. Fair?

Let's put it this way.

Listening to your stuff, you seem the more jazzy type. That's not something I like to listen to, but I recognize the talent for what it is. I think you're an asshole. I don't want to think you are, but that is my experience. But I will give you that you are a good, nay, very good musician for what you do. I'm guessing that you're not the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal type. That's ok. Just recognize us for what we are. We're not a Death Metal band. We're not a Black Metal band. We're not a Goth band. We're a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band. And we come from different perspectives. For example, I am not a fan of Tool. I like Tool, but I think they can be boring as fuck sometimes. But I can listen to some of those songs I don't like and go, "ok, they don't suck." And that is our main female vocalist's favorite band (mine is Iron Maiden).

I don't suck, holist. And you don't suck. I wanted you to suck, but you don't. I just don't like your music. Give me the same respect without the tuning/sloppy/vocalist training bullshit when it is clearly bullshit. I'm telling you it's bullshit, because you heard our album, the tuning was on, we weren't sloppy on the album (I gave you that earlier live stuff was)/trained vocalist. You can say you don't like it without lame excuses for it.

Twid, hang on a minute! I never said you suck! You said that (in not so many words) when you were feeling bored and dejected. I said your music sucks. Big difference! There are in fact very few people of whom I think they suck (politicians and businesspeople I come into contact with in my prostitution-line, mostly). I do think people's opinions of themselves are rarely spot on. And I do think that's alright, too. Question is: does one recognise the fact that one has blind spots, and if yes (which, I think, is essential), what one does with them.

Well, ok then, how does my music suck without it reflecting on my suckitude?

How does this not reflect on me, as a player, and as a writer and a riffer?
