A Log of Stupidity

Our new safety tech has taken the stupidity here to new heights.  Whether it's making up non-existant OSHA regulations, or trying to tell mechanics how to do their jobs, or telling ME how to do MY job, this bears documenting.  I will not document prior examples, as I don't have the dates.

2/13/13, 7AM:  Told by Filthy Assistant that safety tech has (on 2/11/13) unilaterally banned the use of impact wrenches on pipe flanges, on account of OSHA regulation number "PIPEFITTERS DON'T USE IMPACT WRENCHES, BECAUSE I WORKED WITH PIPEFITTERS AND THEY DON'T USE IMPACT WRENCHES."  Unilaterally struck down by me, effective immediately, due to plant regulation number "Go fuck yourself."

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

Are you sure he's not from Seguin?  :lulz:

I had a dogcatcher, erm, animal control officer tell me once that there was a city ordinance that stated no people or animals could be on a property where the water is shut off (she'd apparently never heard of going next door to shower and fill jugs.) I asked her which bridge everybody was supposed to go live under until they scraped up the bill money and told her there was nothing like that on the city website. She insisted that there was and said she'd send me a copy.

It's been a few years. I'm still waiting.

I have a feeling this thread is going to brighten my day on a regular basis.

She.  And she is from Texas, oddly enough.   :lulz:

It fits.

They're "always right"...even when they don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Which is most of the time.  :lulz:

2/13/13, 7:45 AM:  Safety tech tells the morning meeting that she needs to train the mechanics on proper tool use.  I tell her to worry about her own job, and that my mechanics have an average of 20 years experience.  She starts to jabber about her one year in pipe fitting1, I tell her "No.  End of story."  She begins jabbering again, and Ernie gives her the retard face.  Meeting ends in chaos.

1 She failed out of her apprenticeship in 2002.  This is a matter of public record, accessible on the internet.  Saving this fact for later.

My first inclination with her was to go easy, she's a woman in a predominately male profession.  Then it occurred to me that this was in itself a form of sexism, as women are just as capable as men at the fine arts of stupidity and incompetence.

It's too bad she and Filthy Assistant can't breed, and make a new race of super-incompentents.

Clarification:  Filthy Assistant looks like an emaciated toad, and Safety Tech looks like Honey Boo Boo at age 45-ish.  Only with less brains and less social skills.
