Like in the olden days, chain mail was used against arrows and shit like that, but if you get hit by a mace, it's not going to help much, is it?

No argument there. What was confusing me was that the "tornado protection" angle seems to be half of their selling point but there's no info that I could see on that at all. I strongly suspect it's because those kind of tests did not end well at all.
