Here for your ctrl-5ing pleasure I present:

NEWAGE SCUM.

First up,
Yin Yoga.

I have been reading up on yoga a lot because its a possible career direction and I really like it. It is, however, heavily steeped in hogwash, fuzzy logic, and plain old snake oil. Yin Yoga or Taoist Yin or Taoist Yoga is the first suspect, and with good reason.

LOOK http://pauliezink.com/

Firstly, I've been recently made to understand that teachers or Yogic masters or whatever are not supposed to "perform" for people to entice them into practice. Secondly, LOOK AT THAT SHLUB. Watch as he stakes his claim to putting two words seperated by lands and cultures together in such a hamfisted way it makes me want to puke, in EVERY FUCKING PARAGRAPH, ON EVERY PAGE.

JESUS, what a cockhole.

Anyway...so as far as I can tell, some.of this practice involves ligament and joint work, stretching, a lot of stuff that sounds useful to me, IF I CAN SIFT THROUGH THE BULLSHIT. The other part of "Taoist Yoga Healing" is using the breath to push "life force" to various parts of the body.

Now, this is where your imagination CAN help you. The imagined sensation of "pushing air" to areas of pain will probably induce the same effects as any other carefully executed relaxation technique, possibly more so as it is targeted and the brain is being guides along very carefully.

Are you doing anything metaphysical? Have a seat while you think about that.
:barstool:

Anyway, that guys is a dumbass, but typical for his type. Gotta make that money.

Taoist /Yoga/? I mean, yes, Taoist Chi Gung and Nei Gung are both legitimate "energy work" from China (at least in the historical sense), but Yin Yoga? This guy is making shit up. Furthermore, from what I understand about those legitimate "chi practices" is that you never ever force anything. Rather, the breath is used to gently "dissolve blockages" without causing damage. And you never keep going when there is pain.

ETA: And by "you", I mean, "anyone who would try this stuff as more than a dilettante".

I have seen Yin yoga or Taoist yoga in a book published in 77 by a very reasonable person who only made a refererence to it himself, didn't expound on it.
After looking for awhile it seems people use those terms interchangeably.

However, I have seen a few yin yoga resources that imply a focus on those.poses which stretch connective tissue specifically. This is done during the morning when the body isn't warmed up yet to ensure a pull on the tendon and not on the muscle.

As there is no central authority here I suspect these stupid misappropriations will worsen over time.

Almost all of those poses are completely against everything I know of Taoist Chi Gung and martial arts (T'ai Chi Ch'uan, Ba Gua, Hsing-i). They're unnatural, and consist of /pushing/ into a stretch. Chi Gung et al. works from natural movements and relaxes tissues to slowly stretch them over time. Frankly, so much of what I see on that site looks dangerous to the average person. I mean, if you're already a contortionist, sure, but otherwise trying it is going to cause damage. While I am apprehensive in general about Hatha Yoga, none of the regularly used poses are unnatural movements.

In other words, I would trust a damn thing he is selling.

It certainly seems incredibly stupid to fuck with cartilage and tendon in such a way. That shit doesn't just snap back into place once it's been warped.

I hope to find many of these scumbags, but that guy is special.

Did you watch the video, ITT?

A showman. There's a reason you're not supposed to show off. Because it has nothing to do with health.

Not to judge a person based on her appearance, but I can't help judging a CRYSTAL-HEALING CLAIMS-TO-BE-PART-CHEROKEE blue-eyed blonde on her appearance.

Wait.  Cherokee had some kind of tradition involving crystals?

In high frequency quarts Arkansas.

It is a good thing all that protective crystal energy favored the white man! And those with Cherokee heritage.

QuotePranic healers have specific guidelines around how to modify the use of energy on specific clients (young, elderly, frail), have parts of the body they cannot work on (eyes, front heart chakra), and are deadly serious about etheric hygiene (properly handling diseased energy, cutting healer/client cords) as there could be ramifications for both healer and client.
