Does anyone else have trouble reconciling the idea that everything that makes us happy is pretty superficial and all of the horror is incredibly visceral and fundamental?

Is it just me?

Yeah, I have trouble reconcliling the fact that what makes us happy is superficial.

I have little trouble reconciling that. I view it as a handy marker, does it try to rip you apart? Yes? Then it's real. Sometimes the superficial shit carries us through the worst of the horror, sometimes people get lost and think the horror comes from the same place as the happy shit and Something Is Wrong. My work, my home life, everything in my life...its all trying to eat me! Good! It'll try to eat me tomorrow, and the next day.

It is dependable in that way.

Could be, could be.  I dont think that everything that makes me happy (or would, if I had it) is superficial.

Well right now it looks like that the math department chair will sign off on stem algebra if i pass his final. There goes my weekend.

Does that mean you don't have to cram to clep precalc?

If anything matters enough to make you happy, it can rip you apart just as easily. Love, etc.

Had my last exam today (jazz piano), basically done with high school now.
I'm just happy I managed to keep my attendance high enough to get graded in all subjects. Especially after all those days this winter when I was so depressed I felt like dropping out of school entirely. My grades are even quite good.

I'm moving out in August. This is both an exciting and frightening thing.

It's frightening at first, but its gotta be done, and it's pretty cool.

I need to get my shit together. Final in an hour and a half and I am NOT prepared.

You're gonna kick it's pasty ass.

I did. :D

And now all I have left is my final paper (draft has been done for weeks) and "reflections" on the final. Both due Thursday.

GUESS WHAT TWO SUBJECTS I NEVER HAVE TO TAKE AGAIN? STATISTICS AND WRITING, ARE WHAT!

Seconded. Given your general level of preparation and commitment I'm surprised they're making you show up at all.

Aww, thanks!  :)

Offer now formally accepted.  Well, goodbye £5k, it was nice having you doing nothing in my bank account for the past two years.

You're going back to grad school??
