A human skeleton was found Wednesday under a concrete floor in a building in Providence.

Maj. David Lapatin of the Providence Police Department told NBC 10 that construction crews were tearing up the basement when they discovered a skull and other bones.

Lapatin said that police have a Bureau of Criminal Identification team assisting and the state medical examiner combing and sifting through concrete to remove more bones.

"It's going to take a long time to get everything out," Lapatin told NBC 10.

The building undergoing renovation is next to the Providence Community Health Centers, which is located at 355 Prairie Ave.
