The thing is, in many, if not most, group endeavours, organizations, fields, or projects...

The overall group WANTS to identify the smartest guy in the room.  They will be hapless and scared without one.  And one WILL be identified and crowned, willingly or not.

The evidence for my POV has been provided.  Thanks, RWHN!   :lulz:

Because you're so narcissistic that you no longer believe anyone has any volition?   :lulz:

People have volition but they will still want to find the natural leader in any group process.

Which is, naturally, you.

Argue the point instead of making the thread about me.  Tell me how I'm wrong.

Funny thing is, RWHN, I wrote the OP with you in mind.

And you have delivered.  Thanks.

I scored a 14, being as honest as I could.

12 here, which actually surprised me quite a bit.

Richter

I got a 2 - but went into the test considering narcissism an undesirable trait.  Pre-loaded bias and easily discernible grading system.

IMHO - If you're the smartest person in the room SHUT UP.  Announcing it will set the others on the guard against you.  IT will enver work if they start asking why they are handing you their money.

Anyone ever think about how Richter inhabits the same reality as you and just scream and scream and scream, but in a good way?   :lulz:

No kidding.  It wasn't exactly subtle.  Well the intent, but of course you are off the mark.

People do tend to see me as a natural leader in many situations.  But I like to help people.  I'm not really concerned about being perceived as the smartest guy in the room.  I just want to be perceived as helpful and as a reliable resource.  And other times I actualky get a little annoyed when people insist on anointing me as the leader of a thing when I'd rather someone else take the reigns.  People have volition but sometimes groups can cause laziness too.

Ugh. Well, first, the Smartest Guy in the Room is rarely (if ever) actually the smartest guy (or gal) in the room. That he or those around him may be unaware of this only adds to the problem.

Second, the Smartest Guy in the Room will immediately steer any conversation about something he is unfamiliar with into a conversation about something he is passingly familiar with (for some reason, the SGitR has an enormous lack of any actual expertise on almost everything) just so he can claim the heavyweight title and go back into his to intellectual coma as quickly as possible.

Third, both of these traits describe you to a T.

Fourth, stop mangling threads that were doing just fine without you.
