I do get things done.

So do you consider yourself a slacker?  Someone who doesn't get things done?

Of course not.  And you scored higher than I did although we are both still average.

And this board, as had been pointed out many times over its lifespan, is full of cocky, arrogant assholes.

The difference, IMO, is I have opinions that differ from everyone else.
Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

You know I am right which is why you won't even bother to discuss and instead deflect with an emote.

Got 43 on this:

And 5 on this:

I got an 84 on the first link and a 1 on the second. What does that make me? Since it seems to be two opposite results?

The first scale was designed to catch the people who are narcissistic but introverted, the covert narcissist. The second scale is designed for identifying the more recognizable extraverted narcissist.

So what it means is, you might want to start reading about narcissism, particularly covert narcissism. The good news is that, unlike some personality disorders, a motivated narcissist can actually change their maladaptive narcissistic behaviors and attitudes to some degree.

Keep in mind that the "normal" range of scores is also an indicator of healthy self-esteem. Below the normal range = possibly some self-esteem issues, above the normal range = possibly some self-esteem issues at the other end of the spectrum. Think of it as being kind of like BMI: both too low and too high is unhealthy. Not that these tests are a be-all-end-all, they're just a general screening test that *might* be indicative of issues.

Q. G. Pennyworth

wound up at 59 for the covert one, for some reason it made me way more anxious than the other.

Sita

Is covert the same as closet?
Because I found this bit about closet narcissism:
QuoteThe closet narcissist is more likely to be described as having a deflated, inadequate self-perception and greater awareness of emptiness within.
But always thought that description was always for someone with low self-esteem (something I've been told I have for most my life)

Definitely will read more.

Salty

I got, like, a 50something, or whatever.

I'm not going to let some stupid test tell me who I am.

I think the difference may be whether you get wholly absorbed in thinking about yourself, whether it's in positive terms like a typical narcissist or highly negative ones?
