I'm a little pissed off.  I'm looking at what's going on concerning Syria (a war that nobody wants, and nobody can fucking explain, that is GOING to happen), and I'm looking at what's going on in the house (nothing), and I'm starting to feel a real disconnect with anything resembling the farce that passes for our "government".

And no, I haven't run off to be a teabagger, because fuck those assholes, too.  In fact, the funniest thing about the teabaggers is that their insanity has invalidated ANYONE acting pissed off about the government, which is PROBABLY what the Koch brothers had in mind all along.  So fuck them, I'm going to be pissed off, and I'm not going to worry about what conclusions idiots draw from it.

Syria.  There's no fucking point to it.  If we were going there to save lives (HA!), we'd have ALREADY GONE.  This dicking around ensures that when we DO go, it will be TOO FUCKING LATE to accomplish anything other than handing out no-bid contracts to the usual suspects, and maybe having some chemical weapons casualties to chuck into the dumpster we call "the VA".  Read:  See you under the bridge, Twitchy!

AND we're in bed with Al Qaeda AGAIN, for fuck's sake.  This isn't "strategy", it's Goddamn WWF theatrics.  Who's the bad guy?  Depends on which day of the week it is, I guess.

The NSA.  Protecting us from OURSELVES, by listening in on our conversations like the fucking perverts they are (and, you may recall, playing some of the juicier conversations over the office PA).  Who the fuck hired these assholes?  I mean, a shadowy government spook agency I get, but one that gets CAUGHT?  ALL THE TIME?  It's EMBARRASSING, and everyone's laughing at us.  When I order a faceless, monolithic repression agency, Goddamn it, I expect a BARE MINIMUM LEVEL OF COMPETENCE.  It's bad enough that they're listening in on us, but I don't buy this Snowden shit for a MINUTE.  They WANT us to know what they're doing.  Just to grind our faces that much deeper in the poo poo.  Incompetence?  Flaunting their misbehavior?  Or is it BOTH?  You fucking decide.

Then there's the state-level asshats.  There are currently two women in prison for having miscarriages.  HELLO?  WHAT CENTURY IS THIS, AGAIN?  I think I speak for everyone when I say "WE'VE HEARD THIS JOKE BEFORE, AND IT WASN'T FUNNY THE FIRST FUCKING TIME."  I expect ham-fisted stupidity from my federal government, but the stupid shit done on the state level to punish women and brown people is kinda GETTING UP MY ASS.

And why is this?  Not because I'm some kind of touchy-feely white knight out to save Those People, fuck that.  Because I have to live in this fucking place, and live is miserable enough without INSTITUTIONALIZING that misery.  Because it's fucking WRONG.  Because if you put up with that shit directed at someone else, one day it's YOUR turn in the barrel.

SO HOW THE FUCK DID WE GET HERE? 

Easy.  We allowed it.  We forgot how to say "No".  We LONG AGO forgot how to express ourselves in terms these jackasses will understand.  And it has nothing to do with the left or the right or the GOP or the democrats, it has to do with PUTTING A BOOT UP SOMEONE'S ASS WHEN THEY FUCK WITH YOU.

And when you think about it, when's the last time they DIDN'T fuck with you?

I don't believe that Snowden wasn't allowed to run off with that data.  HE probably thinks he was slicker than goose shit, but my guess is that the leak was allowed to happen, just to see what they could GET AWAY WITH.  What the American public would stand.
