He's saying that ECH's as deserving of your ire as he is.

Patently false.  ECH's philosophy and rules have nothing to do with this.

Fact is, my father, who is not in the best of health, was getting doorstepped, and RWHN thought that was a good time to be a gleefully sanctimonious prick.

That's when I went from dislike to hate.  The current mess is an expression of that hate.  This isn't about justice and lessons to be learned.  It's about fucking with a guy I hate.

And I get to do so using the bastard's own standard, which makes it FUNNY.

And I don't see what RWHN is complaining about...He's getting the treatment he has been loudly demanding for the last 4 years.

So fuck that guy.

Naw, I've been getting the treatment because I hold opinions that others find offensive, so people need me to SHUT UP.  It's been going on since the first drug threads.  After awhile, it stops making sense to try to swim upstream.

But I'm also a stubborn SOB, and I've contributed quite a bit to this place over the years, so just up and leaving doesn't quite make sense either.

No, it's because YOU are an offensive person.

Not that you are ever willing to look at any POV that disagrees with what you've decided the universe should look like, of course.

This is why you are a dumbass.

so... why did his name auto populate in my search engine for Maine. ..... also his fb is searchable and pretty much open to the world.

I've already forgotten his name, and hope to keep it that way.

Suits me.  I'd hate to think I wasted all the time I've invested preparing for the next couple of weeks.

But I'm also a stubborn SOB, and I've contributed quite a bit to this place over the years, so just up and leaving doesn't quite make sense either.

Look, I don't know that you've contributed much since you put on the villain mask. Yes, there have been a couple parody and rant threads, but not nearly enough to justify the long troll. The apparently-honest threads you have made either get shat on because people are still mad about the rest of the garbage you bring to the table, or they just don't go anywhere. Everyone has threads that go like that, but I haven't seen any of yours succeed in becoming anything more than a DRUGSANDDRUGSANDREGULATORSANDDRUGS clusterfuck since... well, I think since I got here. Yeah, you pitched in a lot to the BIP, but there's already a second one of those coming out, and the Bitter Tea, and Junky and I are working on some Big Words posters, Cain is still force-feeding us all a better understanding of geopolitics, and even Kai put up an awesome rant the other day. And this stuff is happening with a lot fewer posters than there were back when BIP was made, if I understand correctly.

This isn't a physical place with walls you built or painted, it's a community of people. Like all communities it changes over time, some members leaving and new ones joining, eventually you end up with the Odysseus' Ship problem. Only it's not inanimate wooden planks, it's other people. And the ones that remember you from "the good old days" are the ones that are most angry or dissapointed at you. The only thing that's left here from the time you invested is a pdf you can take with you out the door, and at least half a dozen relationships that have been utterly ruined. There is nothing to salvage. your stubbornness is keeping you here just to continue pissing on your legacy as someone who thought interesting things once.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

Dude, the person who cares the most about your position on legalization is YOU. It's all you talk about. You don't engage in any of the other threads unless it's to try to disrupt them or turn them into a pun graveyard. You've just been trolling this forum for YEARS, now. I don't even think you're aware of it anymore, if you ever were. People don't dislike you because you "have the wrong opinion", they dislike you because you're horrible about it. You're like the one Christian at a party who keeps cornering people and proselytizing, or insinuating yourself into conversations and talking about Jesus. No, it isn't that anyone hates you because you're Christian, it's that everyone hates you because you can't leave your Christianity off the table for any conversation ever.

You aren't your job. You CAN talk about other things. You CAN be pleasant to people. But it doesn't seem like you want to, or maybe you've forgotten how.

I tried. Back in what was it, 2009? I tried not to change your mind, but simply to find a little middle ground in the middle of you calling everybody else stupid and wrong, just to get a little acknowledgement that maybe the professionals in epidemiology and public health who are anti-prohibition are simply looking at things from a different viewpoint that also has some validity. The response you gave me to that, RWHN, was that no, there was absolutely no validity to that viewpoint and that anyone who has it is "misguided".

That was the exact moment that I lost tolerance for your shit, because you categorically stated that anyone else's viewpoint on the issue lacked any validity whatsoever. So your whining about people not liking you because you have the "wrong opinion" is deeply hypocritical. You don't want to have discussions, you want to proselytize, and you want some kind of acknowledgement of validity that you refuse to grant to anyone else. It's a stalemate, it's been a stalemate since before it ever started, you are uninterested in changing your own mind about anything and you refuse to acknowledge that anyone else's opinions have validity, yet you won't stop dragging it into the arena and beating its stinking corpse.

How many times have I told everyone here to get their kids vaccinated for HPV? Never? Oh. Well, that's my job, and you should do that. I probably won't ever mention it again, and here's why: I get enough of that at work and I have other interests too.

You seem to labor under the delusion that every time someone mentions drug-related topics, it's a deliberate attempt to engage YOU, PERSONALLY. Tip: The only reason it has become that way is because you take it that way EVERY SINGLE TIME. Guess what, RWHN; people talk about drugs and legalization because THIS IS AN ACTUAL THING THAT AFFECTS ACTUAL PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. It is not an invitation to your pedantic anti-drug proselytizing, and everyone would like you a whole lot better if you could leave work at work sometimes and stop taking it as one.

Yes, you're a statist who believes that people need to be controlled for their own good. We get that. I'm not totally against controlling people for their own good, I just take it to a different level. Maybe you could write a convincing rant or essay about it, but regarding something other than drugs, like gun control or mandatory vaccination or compulsory schooling or something. People might still disagree, but they probably won't roll their eyes and crap on you as has become the default reaction every time you open your trap.

If you truly want to participate here, then I recommend just participating. Fully, as a human being, and not as a would-be stuffed shirt prohibitionist caricature. It will take a while for people to get used to it and stopping treating you like a cartoon character, but it will happen eventually.

Personally, I kind of hope you stick around because I am interested in watching you lose your shit when Maine legalizes marijuana.

Yeah, it's not  that she formed her own opinions based on her years of specialized education and experience, women can't do that! It's that someone else told her the wrong things to think.
