On the bright side, he's not that far away, just far enough to be annoying. Which I think is worse than a deployment, because it's a fucking tease. He will be home on weekends he doesn't have section duty, but I can't stay in the barracks with him so I can't really go up there. A fucking tease.

How long will he be there?

A year and a half. Then after that, a series of underways to make sure the submarine works, then a six month deployment. Total sea duty is 3 years on this tour since he served a year in Kuwait. There's also talks of the boat being reassigned to Pearl Harbor, but that's unlikely.

lawl.  We're doing complexity theory, complex adaptive systems and insurgent ecosystems in my current class.

I kinda might have looked into this in 2005, when John Robb were writing about it.

On the plus side, I do feel confident that the reading I'm not able to do due to work is not negatively impacting my education thus far.

I love when that happens. I've passed a few courses with no text, entry level business courses, but still.

Today is day 4 of Staycation 2013. I took my son in 4 days ago, though it was not mine with him, cause his mom got sick. So, while not wild and reckless, I have enjoyed a malaise haze of Assassins Creed 3, the first of which I've played and the first game I've played at all in some time.

Feels good.

Things at home are good. It's been nearly a month and my wife's been meditating, seeing someone weekly so far, doing yoga and generally trying to manage her shit. Got a job and all. My anger and bitterness have subsided, which took about...until today. Still watchful, especially now. But hopeful. Thanks for all your words before, spags. It helped me.

AC3?  AC3???

You need to pick up AC2 and its expansion packs.  Connor is a crybaby mcshiteater, Enzio is like Haytham Kenway on speed, and with a bad Italian accent.

Ah, I had no idea. Steam had it, and I grabbed it on impulse. I will do that though, I've got a huge empty space where gaming once was.

Conner is kind of a pansy. Do I still get to kill animals?

CIV5/BNW is feeling glitcy tonight.  Economy is shit, no matter what.  NO military, all cities have monuments and market places (only), fishing boats, caravans in place, economy at -11.  Then 2nd great prophet shows up, and I hit "convert city" instead of "expand religion", because for no apparent reason, BNW has the commands rearranged.  Ragequit, laptop is on notice:  Fuck with me again, and DIE.

I never got into Civ games. I felt like if I did, I'd be addicted and never get any work done.

No, you just jump up and down and make monkey noises, and then use your laptop as an anvil for a while.

Does this happen when you make progress?

I'm really glad to hear that things are going better, Alty!
