Or it's just a sense of relief at the idea that someone can actually finally post about current developments with legalization or somesuch and not have it turn into a 90-page fuckfest or a wall of puns.

Sort of like how we all laughed about it after my friend's van exploded into a fireball and tower of 30-foot flames when she was on her way to the coast with her kids and my son. Because even though all our camping gear was gone everybody got out and it was really OK in the end and she got a new car and life goes on.

There will be another, before too long, to make sure that the conversation goes along one of two approved routes. 

1.  Drugs are bad.
2.  Drugs are magickal.

And if you have an opinion that falls somewhere between those two, or isn't related to the dichtomy at all, then it will be up to the new messiah to get you to SHUT UP.  In some office, somewhere, not the DEA or anything like that or even government (maybe it's Madison Avenue), there is a small department that decides what the acceptable sides to an argument consist of, and they do their best to make sure that the pre-packaged responses drive out all "left-handed thinking".

Our newest replacement is Brother Nihil, who will tell you that his magickal experiments with LSD have led him to conclude that liberalism and individuality are really bad (this would, oddly enough, include drug use), and are "false freedom".

He isn't paid to do this, or anything.  He's just nuts and more than a little stupid, just as RWHN was nuts and became more than a little stupid.
